At what point do we give up on the Romo-Ware-Witten-Garrett core?

Hopefully another 8-8 season will open Jerry's eyes.

Nothing short of a complete trainwreck will ever stand a chance of opening his eyes.

And even then, it may take several years of said trainwreck and a significant loss to the image of the brand (read: revenue) to really make an impact.

He does not need to hire anyone to get a stadium anymore.

this is funny, how fans choose to feel is their own business but they wait all off season for football season to start and then give up after week 4? LOL

What did he do in the biggest game of the season against the Commanders last year? I must have missed him in that game because I never saw him out there. Also, what did he do against the Chargers? I saw 1 tackle and 1 offsides from him.

When you have all of the stud QBs coming out next year, what the hell was the harm in letting Romo play out his contract? I don't care about the cap hit this team isn't close to a super bowl.

Hi all. I am new here so be kind... :)
I am a Romo fan. My take on him is that he can be a SB winning QB but he has to have a solid disciplined coaching staff. I really wonder what would have happened if Parcells had stayed. The "crap" I watched Sunday did nothing but show this team has a lack of leadership and discipline at the coaching level. Garrett is not an HC and never will be. Of course it doe not help when your owner\GM cuts you off at the knees but I still don't think that would make a difference.

To beat that dead horse. The Cowboys will not win another SB while Jerry is running the show.

Very, very disappointing...

At the end of the season. Not in the middle of the battle when your team is actually leading the divison no matter how much they suck. Wait until they are mathmaticly out before you start this.

Wow, usually the 'blow-it-up' threads don't start popping up till at least mid-season.

You see the thing with Romo is everything around him has to be 100% perfect in order for him to succeed. If a receiver drops a ball 3 minutes into the 1st quarter and the cowboys end up losing the game, the romo stans will use that one drop as ammo for why we lost. The oline has to be perfect, the receivers have to all be healthy and catch every ball, the romo friendliness has to be in the air, he has to be given the right to make his own play calls...etc...etc. he's been given a lot of this and we're still .500. i'm just sick of this crap man. no matter what we give this core of losers they always end up losers. i just laughed out loud when ware jumped off sides on that 3rd down play. it was just so typical of this core to show up small in the biggest moments. i'm ready to move on, this experiment has run its course.

Except Romo played really well, despite the WR drops and the collapse of the pass defense. The thing with some fans is they can't separate the play of a QB from the play of an NFL team. The two are correlated, but they're not the same.

Don't they? I don't explicitly remember, but it seems consistent with previous behavior for them to start cropping up seasonally after the first loss or two.

How many more years of this before we realize it's never going to happen for this core? Have some of you already come to this conclusion?

Just curious b/c we've changed a lot of pieces around these four but it always equals out to 8-8. Maybe its just not meant to be for these four in Dallas.

Ware was MIA yesterday until a timely offside. Witten with a key drop. Romo does not look like a 100M dollar QB. Garrett is still robotically preaching the process. Anybody else just sick of this **** with this core and ready to move on from all of it? I mean for crying out loud folks it's been a decade of this misery!

I hear you. I think all of these guys are great players but for what ever reason it just isn't working. We can not make the playoffs with rookies, we don't have to pay top dollar for vets to not make the playoffs. Garrett has to go regardless.

You have to point the finger at JJ. His obsession(What he calls loyalty) with players is what makes him over pay and sign them before we need to. Meanwhile he is doing nothing more than handcuffing us with mediocrity. Nobody can change this.. the whole Jones family has to remove themselves from the Cowboys or we are doomed.

It would have been one of the dumber moves in Jerry's tenure as GM to let Tony Romo walk at the expiration of his old deal. And I don't think anybody outside of a few disgruntled fans on Cowboys message boards thought there was ever a chance of that happening or a serious debate as to whether or not it should have.

nobody said let him walk. why not let the deal expire? fear of the price going up to 120M? LOL...cmon Idgit.

I said 'let him walk at the expiration...' And, obviously, the fear is that we'd be competing in an open market for a rare commodity and would have to pay a huge premium at that point.

It also would risk slighting your franchise player if you were dumb enough to let him get all the way to FA without a deal. It would be a colossally stupid move of the sort you'd only make if you were clueless as to the value and ability of the QB play you've been getting during the Tony Romo era.

This team being blown up isn't new for me. I have wanted this for the past 3 seasons. Crap ain't working. Period..

Then, you see a team that was 2-14 last season, in the matter of a damn year if that, is 4-0.. You figure out the rest.

Um, we should have traded for Alex Smith?

Say it again one more time so they can hear you
