At what point do we give up on the Romo-Ware-Witten-Garrett core?

I respect what Romo, Witten, and Ware have done for this franchise, but I also acknowledge that all three are in varying stages of decline.

Proper asset management suggests that we should have either let Romo play out his previous contract or traded him last offseason for a high pick or two. That ship obviously sailed.

We should be doing everything we can to limit Ware's snaps since he can still be effective at times. That doesn't appear to be happening.

Witten has lost a step or two but can still be a solid player.

I'm fine with firing Garrett, but really, there's no magic coach out there who's going to be able to beat back Father Time.

The pass to Witten should have been caught, but if you watch it Romo should have thrown it over wittens shoulder as he was in stride.

I disagree and I agree. Romo should have put that pass over the top of Witten, but Witten was looking over his inside shoulder which is where Weddle was shading him leaving Romo no option but to throw a back shoulder pass. Which still worked because the pass bounces off Witten's chest.

If Witten looks over his outside shoulder, then Romo can throw it over the top and Witten makes that catch in stride.

I don't mind Ware, but Romo and ESP Witten can jump off a cliff. Witten got embarrassed by Weddle

Funny how 72 hours ago threads about Ware steamrolling Long and comparisons with Reggie White were prevalent and now he's done.

I would like to see Witten banished after this season. Sorry, love the guy's attitude and compete level but he is an anchor at this stage in his career and Romo will be better off without him.
They also need to find a replacement for Ware. He just shrinks when the team needs him most, maybe if they can find someone who can take snaps away from him we'll see a fresher player down the stretch of games.

I hate to say it but I agree with you 100% .It's sad but true

Romo is having a great year so far. 72% completions, 10 TDs, 1 INT that was williams fault. The defense breaks when it bends, and i think demarcus ware is starting to become exposed as vastly overrated. The defense has been the issue since 2010 started.

yep instant gratification. you don't find fans built like me in my age group. most people my age would have hopped on the latest "trend" by now. instead i've stuck by these losers for my entire youth. instant gratification? lol how dare you son.

Putting Greg Ellis and Demarcus Ware on the same tier is insanity. Citing Ware as a problem is a trend that you either heard or about to start.

Does anybody have any issue with this? Bravo my friend. Take 5 or 6 of the realists on this site and I guarantee you we would do a better job of building this team than this jones nightmare family.

5 or 6 madden players could make the most profitable football franchise in the NFL better than the Jones family could? You would not know where to start friend.

This thread is also a tad ironic since it's two of our youngest players (Mo and Williams) that stunk it up the most.

williams actually had a good game with a bonehead play, Mo was brutal so you're right about that

You really think any of those four were primarily responsible for yesterday's loss? And, if not, why suggest anybody give up on them?

Because he has long given up on them and wants everyone else to join in?

I put the loss on Garrett. The team was not motivated at all. I had hoped he would do a better job motivating the team after giving up play calling but so far it has taken a player speech (Hatcher's) to get this team to play up to potential. I have not given up on Garrett yet but if go .500 again we need a new coach who can motivate this team.

How many more years of this before we realize it's never going to happen for this core? Have some of you already come to this conclusion?

Just curious b/c we've changed a lot of pieces around these four but it always equals out to 8-8. Maybe its just not meant to be for these four in Dallas.

Ware was MIA yesterday until a timely offside. Witten with a key drop. Romo does not look like a 100M dollar QB. Garrett is still robotically preaching the process. Anybody else just sick of this **** with this core and ready to move on from all of it? I mean for crying out loud folks it's been a decade of this misery!

who do u suggest the cowboys run out there then? Just curious i hear stephen mcgee is available...wait he signed in the cfl....

The problem is that with the defensive switch it appears that it will require either 1) time for the players to adjust or 2) new personnel, or 3) a switch back to 3-4. Any of which is going to burn up the end of the championship window for this core.

Cmp% 83.3
Yds 401
TD 3
Int 1
Rate 120.3

Gimme a coach who can motivate around that, anyday. Problem is, they don't exist. Better off giving a pass defense that can keep that from happening.

Get rid of them and replace them with who? Did everyone already forget how long and how many 1st rounders it took them to find a real pass rusher?

Did people already forget about Shante Carver, Ebenezer Ekubum, and Greg Ellis. This team didn't have a double digit sack artist for over 10 years until Ware came along.

And I'm sure I don't need to bring up all the QBs we went through before finding Romo.
