Joe, I don't know the particular play you are refering to, but I doubt Ellis caused a delay penalty. Delay penalties are usually on the offensive side of the ball. He may have caused a "12 men on the field" penalty, or forced the team to use a time out, but he didn't draw a delay penalty.cowboyjoe;2608094 said:yep greg was crying when spencer was getting more playing time
and has anyone asked greg how come in one particular play, best i remember was the baltimore game, ball came in and taped him on the rear end to come out of the game in a substitution, greg refused
so hence we got a delay of penalty game due to greg refusing to come out when the coaches were having him substituted

Where have I heard this before?

- Pacman
- Tank Johnson
- T.O.
- Greg Ellis
- Bradie James
- Patrick Crayton
While everyone on this list is obvious, when you have that many players who run against the grain on your team, there is no way to have any real cohesion. Especially when the litter both sides of the ball.
While replacing Bradie James with the same quality of football player maybe hard, getting rid of a passive aggressive, talk behind your back, negative cancer would be a big positive towards having everyone on the defense playing as a unit with all the same mindset. (James could bring real value if traded.)
Pacman has tons of talent, but he just isn't a good person. You can never be in a great position having someone like that around. This is exactly why they tell young athletes to stay away from the troubled youth they grew up with. They bring negativity with them. The deal with Pacman, is he IS the evocator of trouble. He doesn't need other troubled friends to get him into it. Guys like Bennett damn sure don't need guys like Pacman, Tank, James, or even TO to guide them. (Already released)
Ellis is just a whinner and that does nothing but breed resistance to any cohesion the coaching staff is tries to build. He is on his last leg and is more expensive this season. Yes, we could use a third pass rushing OLB, but I think we should just start fresh. (Ellis could bring a late round pick, maybe a late round pick and John Beck from Parcells!)
Tank just sucks in ever aspect. Game play and attitude. Hit the road jack. (He is already FA)
Crayton is at best a 3rd receiver. The problem with him is he is a malcontent who breeds negativity and he lets his negativity effect his effort on the field. He too, like Bradie James speaks with the media publically and anonymously. ESPN lets him do TV interviews because he gives them information they want. Why else would they give a 3rd receiver so much air time even in the off-season? (Late round pick maybe)
T.O. is still very talented and can do a lot for this team. He very well could be the tool need by releasing him to set the tone for the change this team needs. It would a shot across the bow of everyone on the team except Romo. If anything, it would make Romo feel he is more powerful. I believe the Cowboys need to make it clear to him that last years lack of commitment to the team is unacceptable. (Release him or trade him he counts the same against our cap, someone wants him I'm sure. The question is, they might be willing to risk not getting him to pay him less making him untradable)

But the truth is, a lot of this hating players for what they say is just a product of the internet age with a billion blogs and talk shows and pseudo-reporters and microphones and podcasts. If you put a mike in front of someone's face enough times, he'll eventually say something you don't like.
Has anyone read the book "How I Made Two Million Dollars in the Stock Market" by Nicholas Darvas? Basically, he was a professional dancer in the 50s or 60s who worked overseas a lot, and developed a profitable system where he made decisions on only the most basic of information that he could get through telegrams. When he got back to the states, he had access to a lot more information, so he heard a million detailed reports and rumors and hot tips, and he did nothing but lose money. He had to force himself to ignore all that and go back to his basic system where he focused only on the most important information, and his system worked again.
Sometimes I think we're like that. If these were the "old days" and we were overseas with only access to a newspaper with box scores, we'd probably see that last year we had a really good team that went 13-3. This year, we had a bunch of injuries, especially to our QB, and barely missed the playoffs by one game. And that would probably seem perfectly reasonable to us. We wouldn't get worked up about every tiny move made and word spoken by the team, because we wouldn't even know about it.
Is it just me or does it seem that defensive players have been out there talking more than offensive players so far? Also seems that the defensive players have a pretty good idea of what the team needs to help them win.dcfanatic;2607988 said:Ellis doing what he does best
There can't be any way he's back in Dallas at his current salary.
He has restructure or hit the road.
And he isn't an every down player anymore. His drop off last season was evident and I hope he saw that.
So Ellis says the team lacked chemistry and didn't gel?
LOL.
What's the tally now on guys who said 'nothing' was wrong and guys who said 'something' was wrong.
Anyone?

So yeah, you're pretty much wrong. I don't remember specifically, but if this even happened, at worst we burned a time out, or got caught unprepared.
