Audio: JJT says Romo and Newman are not stars

As I recall, in JJT's last article, he stated that Romo was a "great" quarterback, and that Romo's greatness was the reason JJT had been so critical of him.

There's a logical disconnect somewhere.

You are not supposed to remember that!

You're bringing down the curve, man!

Oh so Bradie James is a Star according to JJT who ever he thinks he is

Newman is not - LOL

who covers the other teams top reciever every game -

TN

how many catches did S Smith 4- 38 - Marshall - 4- 91 take away that 51 yarder - Bowe 5 - 51

I mean how bad would this D be with out him

how many with Jenkins covering them

T Newman is a top ten CB in this league

I don't see how people can jump on Newman

what he suppose to do - no catches for the whole season

GET REAL

Romo is a 2nd tier star IMO. Very talented, but needs to win a playoff game.

The same thing coulda been (and was) said about Peyton Manning, til he won a playoff game in his seventh year as a starter....

well newman is a pretty old guy. that's expected. romo just kind of regressed which is disappointing.

look at his numbers. he WAS a second tier star until that playoff win(first year he showed consistency). since then he has actually played like the best qb to ever play the game, superbowl, playoff wins or not.

Didnt JJT just say that he grades Romo on the basis of him being a great QB???

Now JJT says Romo is not a star???

Well which is it???

Sorry, but JJT just lost all credibility when he just contradicted his own article from like 2 days ago.

:thumbdo: I agree with Newman, he leaves alot to be desired, But Tony Romo is a star.

JJT needs to weigh the pros and cons of when Romo is in the lineup and healthy, and what and how this team performs when he's out of it.

The numbers just don't lie, offensively, and wins wise they are staggering in difference.

JJT is a hack with a chip on his shoulder, he's a horrible writer, and an even worse authority on real honest to goodness football strategies, terminology, or a judge of football talent.

Reading his crap, is like reading a mystery novel written by a 6 year old ..

So many morons in this thread its pathetic.

TNew was a top 5 CB- this is the first season where he has not played like it on a consistant basis. Only idiots in love with BSPN highlights do not know how good TNew is. The coaches and WRs and other D Backs know.

Now what is wrong- hard to figure. Its not likely its a physical thing unless he has an injury no one knows about- you do not lose speed this fast. What is wrong- just do not know.

So two days ago JJT thought Romo was a great QB;

The same goes for Romo.

I judge him on the standard he set when he went 17-6 and was one of the league's best quarterbacks. I can always lower the standard. Once I make the determination based on his play that he's a good player - not a great player- then I'll lower the standard. At the end of the season, we should have a pretty good idea.

Something must have happened in the last 24 hours for him to drop his Romo ranking.

Potential Skip Bayless-Troy Aikman scenario IMO.

For someone who fervently defends his position that his opinion should be considered by others as fact, Mr. Taylor certainly does use the phrase 'I think' a hell of a lot. Which is it? "I think" or "I know"?

newman is better at his position than romo is at his, however im not comfortable with newman at all these days.

Newman is solid but never has been or will be elite.. I've been raked over hot coals for saying we should of let Newman walk and signed Asante..

He's absolutely correct when it comes to Newman.

And he's right about Romo right now.

Although I think Romo can change that...if he cuts out the turnovers.

And wins a playoff game or two...

He has to do at least those two things.

Philly fans aren't exactly thrilled with Asante. He allows big plays, is terrible in run support - really is only good for the occasional interception (maybe better at that than anyone in the league). I think if you polled Eagles fans, they would say overwhelmingly that Brown is their guy - Asante is just frustrating them.

JJT is not a professional journalist....

Just a hack trying to build his name up enough to make it on TV one day.

LOL
