Audio: JJT says Romo and Newman are not stars

Newman was great in his prime, but it's hard to argue that he's still in his prime nowadays.

I remember he once went 20+ games without allowing a single TD... if that's not "great", I don't know what is.

Romo? If he's not great already, he'll get there. Ability + work ethic = results.
Yep!.

Great Romo and Newman are not stars good we got that out of the way now just go out and play the game.

LOL at people saying Newman has never been a top corner.

By dcfanatic,

Here's Jean Jacques Taylor on with Norm Hitzges today...

JJT talks Cowboys with Norm

I know sometimes we read JJT's work and listen to him and it's obvious he's just looking to point out a negative so it creates a little buzz.

But these days I think it's more about him saying what's the reality and some fans not wanting to hear it.

Do I agree with everything he says? No. But I do agree that Terence Newman isn't a star CB any longer if he ever was one. And to be clear I am saying that Newman isn't a top ten CB in the NFL any longer.

I also agree with JJT about this coaching staff always trying to avoid hurting players feelings by not making clear cut decisions. There is no need to beat around the bush with the fans, the media or the players. Just be straight up about things and let the chips fall where they may.

great stuff as usual DC thanks buddy;

lets just release Newman now, and see how this D does and how far we go

im sure we will all be singing Playoffs

Nobody is looking to "cut Newman" It's a harsh reality of how he has digressed in the last few years, he can't stay healthy, his tackling is bad at best, and he seems to have forgotten just how to play the corner position.

No one, or at least not I, wants to cut him. I still think he can play, but his ability hasn't been top notch .

I think he would even agree. Don't get so defensive about T New. There are other issues on this team that need to be corrected that are far more important than Newman getting beat on occasion, like penalties, play calling, and tackling.

Oh how cute. JJT thinks people actually care what he thinks or believes when it comes to football.

That's nice.

it's got nothing to do with not wanting to hear it.

it's not wanting to hear it again.

and again.

and again.

and again.

he's a writer, you'd think a 2nd topic would be easy for him.

It is a bye week for JJT as well. :lmao2:

Philly fans aren't exactly thrilled with Asante. He allows big plays, is terrible in run support - really is only good for the occasional interception (maybe better at that than anyone in the league). I think if you polled Eagles fans, they would say overwhelmingly that Brown is their guy - Asante is just frustrating them.

Dallas fans aren't exactly thrilled with Newman. He allows big plays, is terrible in run support - not really good for the occasional interception. I think if you polled Cowboy fans, they would say overwhelmingly agree that Terrance is just frustrating them.

FIXED IT FOR YOU!

maybe. but it just seems to me the dallas media feeds the negativity cause they think it sells. to a point, it does. we're talking about it, aren't we? so in that manner, JJT wins.

but i've not read one of his articles in quite some time. i just see a few words here and there and know he's beating the agenda drum again. i see people talk about it in here and well, i did read an article by him not long ago. it was a repost in here but it was the whole 'this is my opinion but it's fact!" crap.

well my opinion is his writing is crap. not because he's not a good writer, but because it's now some personal jihad for him and he got lost in what a journalist is supposed to do because this national enquierer mentality has taken over.

i think if you polled cowboys fans enough you'd get them to say just about anything.

doens't make it true, however.

I like JJT's columns. They're best when put to use to start camp fires.

They are just feeding a mindset. Where Perceptions and Rumors become fact. It is journalism at its weakest

You've just described every cable news outlet as well as BSPN.

Well when romo plays confident and good he's as good as any Qb in the NFL. I'm a huge Romo critic but He is a star QB. Just has some issues He needs to work out.

Newman...I've always said He's overrated.

And your comment probably wasn't legitimant until this year.

Give the people what they want.

It is like the National Enquirer is the model for today’s journalist because enquiring minds want to know. :laugh1:
