Bad Season is Not Mike McCarthy's fault

There are plenty of valid points made about Big Mike being at fault. The bottom line is, he's gotta go because someone's gotta go. It won't be the GM (ever)
and it won't be the average QB with declining physical skill (in a league where mobile QBs thrive).
He's third in the blame rankings. The problem is the other two are untouchable. It's ironic that he will be gone because of them.

I can't blame Mike for this crapola season, it is all the Jones' fault. They did zilch to improve this team, nada. The players we have are just not good enough. On top of that, Jerry paid a mediocre QB the highest ever paid to anyone in the NFL. Dak is never going to get us to the promise land. The players we do have could care less about winning, they're wondering if there's any money left for them when all is said and done. Our defense has been a sieve for years, what help did Jerry bring in? ZIP. We all hoped Zimmer might be able to improve the run defense, but it still is garbage due to lack of NFL talent.

It's hard to blame the head coach, who had a top offense last year btw, for the wreck the Dallas Cowboys are today. The Jones' suck, that is the problem.
It’s Jerry’s fault for keeping him after that disastrous playoff loss. McCarthy was the coach when they played that game unprepared, undisciplined, unmotivated and soft. How the hell did Jerry think that would suddenly turn around, especially with poor GM work in the off season? Crazy.

Who drafted Mazi Smith?

Who hired Mike Zimmer?

Who signed Zeke Elliot?

Who decided not to draft a RB?

Who decided to ignore veteran free agency?

Who negotiated Dak and DeeDee's new contracts?

Who traded draft picks for Lance and Mingo?

How fair is it to be held accountable for the decisions made by the person that decides whether you deserve to be fired?

in my personal opinion...this is not a mike mccarthy problem.
this is a gm problem.
they are tanking, and I think mike is going along with it.
This season was set up to fail.
Remember do more with less?? That is what jerry told MM and the team.

It is the coaches problem you take with the GM gives you and you make it work. And if you don’t think you, can you leave you don’t wait to get fired. It’s definitely Mike’s issue.

It's not directly McCarthy's fault. It's Jerry's fault for bringing him back as a lame duck. You can't bring a coach back after the Green Bay meltdown. His team fell apart and as we can all see, they never recovered. That negative energy carried forward and we've seen a historically bad season at home. Not addressing the running game and depth along both lines was the last straw, but this team was DOA when the decision to keep Mike on board was made.
I guess you don’t understand how football works. It’s always the head coaches fault. It’s his job to make what the owner and GM hand him work. That’s the responsibility you take on when you’re hired as the head coach.

i blame big mike for the dismal playoff game vs packers last year. He shouldve been gone the next day. He is the head coach, he is responsible.

This year, I blame him for lack of creativity in playcalling, questionable clock mgt and the stupid penalties--a sure sign of lack of discipline.
I agree with last years playoff performance but this year he has nothing to work with. Jerry should have fired the whole staff to show the team you take accountability seriously.

Our defense was not a sieve.. the bum at QB wasted a roster that had plenty of talent to make a run, while playing in the worst division in football that allowed them HF advantage multiple years in a row in the playoffs only for Dak to suck it up against good teams..

Here we go again. Can 't blame Big Mike for the season, yet Dak's name pops up again. RBs on new teams.....Dobbins (Chargers), Pollard (familiar), Dixon (3td Dixon), Barkley, Henry (no-brainer), Jacobs (GB) just to name a few.............no clear look at improving OL (rookies & Steele)....WR group suspect, outside of Cee Dee.......money left on the cap.........late money saving deals/decisions floundered with Dak & Cee Dee........this is just the offensive problems. Jerry went cheap for no reason and sold us on "All-In". He wasn't. Should have traded Lance after the last pre-season game (5 interceptions) for something. Please call Howie Roseman to come manage this team. Now he got many hating on the QB.......masterful. Josh Allen or Patrick Mahomes wouldn't survive with this team.

MM botched the playoff game last year. That loss set into motion an off-season so paralyzed with indecision that firing MM got overlooked. He shouldn't be on the sidelines right now, but Jerry is too lazy to do anything about it. We are a team run by an 82 year old man and it looks like it.

I don't blame him for a bad season. I blame him for making dumb calls. I don't see that he's done much to improve the situation at all. That said, it wasn't going to be good any way.

McCarthy and Schottenheimer’s offense absolutely sucks. JJ isn’t responsible for the continued penalties, sloppy execution, bad play calling, horrid fundamentals, lack of creativity, and poor preparation.
It's really a combination of poor coaching and a dysfunctional upper management organization. It's Jerry, Stephen and yes even McClay whose prowess of finding talented football players is overrated. McClay is ok but he certainly isn't the wizard he is made out to be or the brilliant shadow GM behind the scenes.

I blame Mike for poor offensive design. Getting rid of KM to install a go nowhere offense because he wanted to score slower. End results are barely scoring at all now.

until the f/o dynamic changes...its not gonna produce anything different than what we've seen.
a team that wins double digits...the division title now and then and early playoff exits with an occassional wild-card win.
that has existed long before mccarthy got here.
the failure to address the trenches on the dline is a gm failure...at least mccarthy got them to pay a little attention to it.
but the acquistion of talent or sitting it out falls squarely on the GM.
until that changes...not much else will.
the only coach who MIGHT have gotten or could get better results despite the GM is belichick.
make no mistake...100% this is a jerry as the GM problem.

We have a pretty average record at best when it comes to developing players to their potential

It's the HCs fault that the GM knowingly and willingly brings back a guy that's already failed, and then proceeds to supply said coach with inferior talent? The only blame McCarthy gets is for not resigning and saving some dignity knowing he was entering the season as a lame duck with a subpar team.
