Ball's fault

I love how people bash other players so they can lay off of Ball.

Ball got juked out of his shorts. Jenkins gambled and lost which is bad. OTOH, Ball was there to make a play and once again just failed to get the job done.

That is what Ball does: the safety that cannot help.

He is the worst player on the worst defense in Cowboys history.

People say he is okay???!!?!!?!!

So it's not just me?

Who is both? If you are saying Jenkins took the wrong angle, ... wow, I don't see it that way.

As a matter of fact, in watching the replay I can't see how he missed the ball. But he did.

Ball and Sensabaugh.

Can't really fault Jenkins on the Jackson 91 yd play, .. he was at least trying to bat it down, .. probably missed by inches.

But after that, Sens was chasing and if Ball uses the sidelines as a teammate, and forces Jackson to stay on the sidelines, he could possibly shove him out or Sens could catch him if he slows up approaching Ball.

But Ball lets him turn it back to the middle of the field, and it was all over.

I do realize Jackson is tough to get down in the open field, but I would like to see us use the correct technique when we can.

That should not have gone 91 for the score.
Ball was playing behind Jenkins, I think that's why Jenkins played the ball so aggressively in that case.

Ball did take a HORRIBLE angle. You can tell that Sens was expecting Ball to be able to contain a cutback b/c he was running full steam up the sideline. Once Jackson made that cut, Ball was on his butt and Sens was completely out of the play.

Betcha if we release him after the season he at least manages to stay on an NFL roster next year.. unlike our previous safety at the position.

Jenkins made a bad play, Ball took a bad angle, Sense took a bad angle.. there's alot of blame to go around.

That said, Ball isn't good.. but he's had no experience and no coaching to help him learn the position either.

Sensabaugh was lined up on Jenkins side Ball was on the other side. Senabaugh had the coverage over the short middle. Ball does run that side about 20 yards down field when Jackson cut it up.

Dallas was not lining both safety to the same side of the field

I agree...

I personally don't think Jenkins should have been gambling on that particular pass, in that particular portion of the game, considering the coverage they appeared to be in. It was have just been much better to fly up there, hit DJax as he caught the ball, and knocked it out like that or made the tackle for a 4 yard gain, rather than allowing a 91 yard score.

Again he is the worst player on the worst defense in Cowboys history. Many others are playing poorly but none as poorly as he.

He is horribly miscast as a safety and if some other team wants to pay him to start then by all means allow them. As a substitute he is decent but he is not so much on special teams so its not like the prospect of losing him is really all that bad.

He has a place on an NFL roster. He is a good 4th corner and a mediocre 3rd.

I didn't say he'd start.. and clearly he is not playing well. But he's young, has some physical talent, much like most of the members of our secondary.. just hasn't played the position before and has had poor coaching to try and learn on the fly. Not a situation to succeed. Tough season for him.

I think he has definately looked miscast at safety this year.. i just wonder how much of that is the fact that he's never played there before and really has no one to help him learn how to play there and learn the nuances of the position.

I think we definately need to draft a true FS in the first or second round though. No argument there.

LOL @ someone suggesting that Ball is better than Hamlin.

If Hamlin was better, we could sign him for a box of cracker jacks right now, because he's not even in the NFL.

Cut twice by the Ravens because he wasn't even good enough to be their 3rd string FS.. yea he's really good.

:laugh2:

I was thinking the EXACT same thing. That's what separates the good from the not so good. I swear man, we gotta give Akwasi Owusu Ansah a chance next year

Ball has to be the worst starting safety in the entire league, seriously. Dude gets whipped like a yard dog virtually every freaking week.

Its actually comical how bad the guy is.

Physical talent?

He runs a mid 4.5 and is a tiny string of a football player. He does not appear to be quick and his agility scores at the combine were mediocre.

I though i saw he ran more of a 4.48.. which either way 4.5 for a safety is plenty good. I don't know about his quickness.. he certainly has looked quick on a couple of the INT's he's had since Garrett took over, and a few of the plays he's come up in run support on as well.

I agree we need better play from the FS position, and i hope we draft high there. I still think he has good quickness and speed though. If he could just get some decent coaching to the point where he could just go out and react to the play without having to think so much, i think he'd be a nice suprise for us, whether its at CB or S.

I think what we can take from this is Jackson beat us because he is fast and a good player.

Ball might not be any good, but he's been a huge upgrade over Ken Hamlin. Can you imagine how bad we'd be with Hamlin still back there? Yech.

Who's with me? Or maybe the easier question, who's not?
