Garth Brooks (not a country lover....but I didnt get all the hype with this guy)

Elvis (The King? hardly)

Name a solo act that was better.

That's what I thought. Elvis F-ing rules.

Better by what measurements?

Better for your ears?
Better record sales?
Better #1 Hits?
Better Lyrical Content?
Better Musical Content?
Better stagemanship?

Look I like Elvis but depending on your criteria there are better solo artists for some.

Yeah. Those.
....or you could go by influence. Breadth of sound. Ability to please audiences for generations. Sheer numbers of people he's entertained.

I realize there are better artists for many people, but you can't take what he's done away from the man "just because".

Lots of arguments both ways, but the fact is, Elvis was dubbed the KING. It's been that way for some time, and it's not going anywhere. Other artists have to EARN there legacies. You can't simply take his away and throw it upon someone else.

Reminds me of the "Titletown" argument....or even the oft posted "America's Team" argument.

It just is.

Its just is......??? so we have to accept it? and Like it?

The media and all that hype can do wonderfull things in this world....

Hey...I liked Elvis....damn...I cried when he died....

But the Guy was overhyped.....good looking guy with a pretty good voice that shook his hips.

He never wrote any of his music.....and his antics on the stage were done before by black musicians but they never got the hype......Little Richard could of been the King.....if he ever got that type of hype.

I like Elvis....just like the Beatles....just think they got way more hype then they deserved.....overrated IMHO..........

And MJ is dubbed the King of Pop...ugghhh.:laugh2:

I have always liked elvis and don't have negative things to say about him...except for those horrid movies.:D

Yep. Pretty much. :D

I'm not saying you have to like anything. You don't even need to like Elvis.

You just can't take away "The King". It just is.

The Sex Pistols

Slipknot

Marilyn Manson

The Ramones

Wow, I love all those bands.

I must agree with Danny White. I don't like the Beatles much either. Elvis sucks too.

One band I absolutely can't stand though is U2.

Wow, i hate them. The other day on Mike and Mike they were in agreement that they were the best band of all time. I LOLed and LOLed. That is ridiculous. U2 sucks and shouldn't be considered in the same bracket with bands like Black Sabbath, Zepp...hell I could name 100 bands better than they are.

Oh, and not much of a Springsteen fan either.

Don't be silly...here's a young Bruce Springstein with his Uncle Leo
DadAndSonBandW3Deint.jpg
, front man for The Best Little Klezmer Band in Texas. They could really lay down some kick arse Yiddish music from the old country.

Bruce eventually formed the band Chutzpah...
bestbar_200.jpg
...leaning more toward traditional klezmer music using clarinet, banjo, tuba and accordion. Though more suited for weddings, bat/bar mitzvahs and other Jewish simchas, they had a few hits including Esther (Won't You Come Out Tonight), Shalomroad, and Kabbalah Avenue Freeze Out...the latter featuring the big man Hirshel Berihon on sax.

I haven't seen the video of GOTJ...but have heard his version, which I like very much. (have a link for that?)

Detroit Medley..dang...all I can say was that night I told my wife 'he's trying to kill us!' It officially brought the house down.

Did you get the Columbus boot? Still the best sounding one out there for this tour IMO.

I have to say...I'm gettin' the itch to go to North Carolina.:

I downloaded the GOTJ with TM.

I will upload it and send you a link.

I'll probably get roasted for this but I can't stand Willie Nelson's singing. I think it has more to do with the nasal voice than anything.

KISS

If they and the Insane Clown Posse were on tour together, and their plane went down, the cosmetics industry might suffer greatly, but I wouldn't shed tear one!
