youdon't fix things that are'nt broke. jj is on pace for nearly 1400 yds and with less carries than most above him. you do realize that burnett is ware's backup so if you start him you would be benching ware?ratliff is a pass rusher, not a run stuffer.keep him in the nickle where he is fresh to rush the passer

Why can't he play the run?? ? The guy is bordering on 300lbs? He is a pass rusher because that's what he is asked to do.

I am not a anti JJ guy, in fact I like him alot. However this team needs a fire lit under it and Marion Barber can help supply it.
Not saying to bench Julius, but I think allowing MB3 to come out rolling over people in the first quarter would help set the tone and give this team a much needed boost. You can rotate the two after the first quarter.
Jones is a nice back, he can have moments of brilliance, but he seems to go down way to easily and plays with little fire. It's that kind of passive culture which needs to be changed in my humble opinion.

Other changes I would contemplate:

Starting Burnett or at least giving him much more PT.

Allowing Watkins back on the field especially in the red zone. He seems to be much more comfortable closer to the endzone and his height would help.

Start Jay Ratliff in place of Canty

Barber-yes
Ratliff-yes
Burnett-?
Watkins-only if Elam is playing Roy W's spot

U guys forget MBIII had like 48 carries one game at Minn and another with like 43 carries, not to mention a whole bunch of 30 carry games.

MBIII and Lawrence Moloney are 2 of the same backs both powerful and good

Has anyone stopped to think that the reason Barber might look so good is that he comes in after Jones has already worn them out a little bit?

And what is this crap about only getting 3-4 yards? Jones breaks a 10 yard for 1st down at least once a series.

Once a series??? Are u kidding me?

Again....this team falt out stinks in the first quarter....what would it hurt to give Barber the bulk of the carries early on?? If anyone should be wearing down the defense it should be Barber not Jones.

Right, the running game is going quite well. I can see some people saying they wish Barber would get more carries. But saying he unquestionably should be the starter over JJ doesn't make sense at the moment. JJ is playing well. I would like to see Barber a little more involved (meaning a few more touches per game), but I still like the 1-2 punch we have right now.

Barber's role as it is now is perfect for him. The reason he's been running over guys is because he's getting the chunk of his carries in the 2nd half on fresh legs, running over tired defenders. It would be a much different story for him if he was getting the bulk of the carries in the beginning of the game. I'm not saying he wouldn't do well, but he certainlly wouldn't be ripping off 5 yard carries everytime.

We have a perfectly good RB. And people are still wanting to take time from him. It just doesn't make any sense. Changing RB's isn't likely to make this a better team, especially to a RB who's probably less talented.

I would sooner throw 4-5 times less and give those plays to Barber. I would love to see that rather than use Jones less.

Barber is better in the role he is in now.

When defenses get tired Marion Barber comes in and is usually the freshest guy on the field.

With his size and power he is hard to stop.

I think Julius is a better runner but Marion is a great back up and good at what he does.

Or throw it to Barber/Jones those 4 to 5 times ... I really do think we underutilize our backs in the passing game.

I would agree with this, as long as you don't mean screens. I just want to see the back swing into the backfield and take a 3-6 yard pass from the QB. That would be nice - and Romo, unlike Bledsoe, can actually make this throw.

I think we underutilize our backs completely - we should be running about 5-10 times more a game. That being said, I do understand that a big reason we don't is our penalties that back us up.

I disagree and without even looking it up I could almost guarantee we are top 5 in rushing.

Plus saying we need to run 5 or 10 more times a game is easier said than done when you start almost every first down with some kind of penalty.

I've said it all along and I'll say it again. Barber is CLEARLY the better football player, and as such deserves the feature back role with JJ getting significant carries as well.

I love Barber's running style, but no way could he last a season as the feature back with that style. He's not built like Earl Campbell.

The way the backs are used now is dang near close to perfect.

Find something that's actually WRONG with our team to complain about. The running game and the running back duo are NOT a weakness. Not even close.

Our running game is now better then it has been since about 2000. And some morons want to mess with it. Stupidity knows no limits.
