Playing with bruised or cracked ribs will put MBIII through the ultimate manly test. Only people who have experienced bruised or cracked ribs know what I'm talking about. That type of injury can linger forever and be VERY annoying.

I suspect his production will drop a little.

I think he bruised them on that spinning / leaping 1st down - he's a Truck and he'll be ready.

That Tashard Choice looks like a tuff straight ahead runner.

He's resting...for the long haul.

Suspect that!

Yes I also thought Barber ran a little more like an 'elusive' back than a head banger today. This is probably smart in my opinion. It will cost him a few yards a game but he will be fresher.

Five Stars where in the heck have you been?? I was about to put a missing persons report on you.:)

I certainly Hope Barber plays next week.....not only do we need his running skills, but against Philly, we need his blocking in pass pertection.

Not easy to criticize anything today, since things went so well, but I would have mixed Felix in a little earlier. If not for the bruised ribs, it seems like Felix wasn't going to get any carries in the game.

With a battering ram like Barber, we have to find ways to keep him healthy.

It's going to be real good, this coming Monday!

Actually, it will be a very boring game. The eagles will need extra feathers...maybe they can get some from the Commanders?

Fly on down, eagles...the Cowboys will leave the light on for you.

It was noted during the game that MBIII was taken out to get his ribs looked at? Anybody have any word on how that turned out?

He had a bruised rib

They did x-ray, it was negative...

Radio reports said it could be cartilage would could be just as bad.

Not much information other than that.

Here's the latest I've seen.

CLEVELAND -- Dallas Cowboys running back Marion Barber was taken to the locker room with bruised ribs in the second half of Sunday's 28-10 victory over the Cleveland Browns and did not return.

ESPN.com's Matt Mosley writes about all things NFC East in his division blog. • Blog network: NFL Nation

A high-ranking Cowboys source told ESPN's Ed Werder that Barber damaged cartilage in his rib cage but X-rays indicated there were no fractures. While the team is uncertain of Barber's availability for next Monday night's home game against the Philadelphia Eagles, the source said the Cowboys medical staff believes that Barber could be treated with painkilling injections and the injury protected with additional padding that would improve his chances of playing.
Ball security would be a concern if Barber wore additional equipment since that is the area where the ball is held against the player's body. The Cowboys' backup running backs are both rookies: Felix Jones and Tashard Choice.
Also, quarterback Tony Romo left with a bandage covering a laceration on his chin that was expected to require stitches.
Barber rushed for 80 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries in helping the Cowboys build a 21-7 halftime lead. He also had three catches for 21 yards.
Barber had five carries in the third quarter before leaving the game.

Jones took over in Barber's absence and punched in an 11-yard TD on his first carry to make it 28-7 in the third quarter. Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.

My own experience has been that xrays aren't that great for distinguishing bruised from cracked ribs. They are useful to rule out other more major injuries such as pulmonary (lung) contusions (bruises), pneuomothorax (collapsed lung).

Many missed rib fractures are picked up on CT scans.

Having said that, these things heal on their own and the pain of bruised ribs can actually outlast the pain or a rib fracture. It'll be interesting to see how much time if any he misses.

Correct!!! I had a motorcycle accident 7 weeks ago. Idiot woman did not stop and ran right into the side of my bike. Went to the emergency room and had a cat scan on my whole upper torso and head. They said nothing broken. My chest continued to get worse and worse. Went back to my own doctor 5 days later and had more x-rays taken. I had 3 broken ribs in my left chest. The moral? Broken ribs are not always easy to see. Or, some doctors are idiots. Take your pick.
