Barber's ribs hurt; Romo cuts chin

Cowboys running back Marion Barber suffered damaged cartilage to his ribs and X-rays were negative. He said after the game he would be all right and could have kept playing if needed.

Quarterback Tony Romo cut his chin after being heavily pressured by the Browns in the third quarter. He needed 13 stitches and X-rays were negative on his left hand. He spent several minutes in the locker room long after all the players were gone getting stiches on the training table.

Cowboys medical staff believes that Barber could be treated with painkilling injections and the injury protected with additional padding that would improve his chances of playing.

Lets move on - he will play Monday night!

Why was Joe Buck saying that Barber has sore ribs? Did I miss something? I saw a thread about this a couple of hours ago but couldn't find it again and was wondering if there was any truth to this??

I think MB3 plays against the Eagles, but I'm looking for Felix to carry more of the load.

Correct!!! I had a motorcycle accident 7 weeks ago. Idiot woman did not stop and ran right into the side of my bike. Went to the emergency room and had a cat scan on my whole upper torso and head. They said nothing broken. My chest continued to get worse and worse. Went back to my own doctor 5 days later and had more x-rays taken. I had 3 broken ribs in my left chest. The moral? Broken ribs are not always easy to see. Or, some doctors are idiots. Take your pick.

Find it hard to believe they missed a rib fracture on the CAT scan - they usually are very easy to see. You sure they CAT scanned your chest? Just seems odd to miss something that is very easy to see.

I hope he ok I have zero faith in Felix blocking ability and the RB situation is left with a lot of question marks w.o. MB3 back there.

Glad they aren't broken. Nothing to serious that way and he'll probably just put on a jacket and be able to play through it.

Barber is a nice, fun arsenal in our offense.

WE are going to BREAK him.

Gotta go back to last years system. More Felix Jones... sprinkled with Barber

ESPN’s Ed Werder reports that Cowboys running back Marion Barber suffered an injury to rib cartilage on Sunday afternoon against the Browns.

X-rays revealed no broken bones. However, as anyone who ever has injured rib cartilage knows, it hurts like a *****.

The team is expected to use pain-killing injections to permit Barber to play on Monday night against the Eagles.

Barber rushed for 80 yards on 16 carries and scored two touchdowns during the Cowboys’ 28-10 win over the Browns.
Not sure if this has been posted.

I just watched the Barber play where I think he injured his ribs, when he caught the Romo pass, spun out of the would be tackle, and leaped over a defender going for a low tackle, wow.

i think I'll just go with what MARION said himself that he's alright and could've played if needed.

I dont think we heard newman, hurd, or austin, kosier say that.

I think he's a little sore but nothing he cant play with.

if he felt as though he couldn't play he would've said something like we'll see what the MRI says or i hope i can play next week.

It pains me to see people thinking we ran barber too hard the guy had 16 carries!

I know felix could have gotten involved more a little earlier on but i think marion just had a freak accident when he came down thats all folks lets get over it.

I agree. Bumps and bruises are part of the game. Barber like any other player is going to get nicked up from time to time be it 10 carries a game or 20 it is the nature of the game. Barber has damn good talent and is capable of doing the job let him do it.

We need Barber but i'm comfortable with what I've seen from Felix and Choice to say that if Barber needs some time to heal then we should still be good. As long as he's healthy for the playoffs..

A couple of pain shots and a little extra padding and he'll be as good as new. Nothin to worry about.
