I am no Jerry hater. I honestly don't have the vitriol for him that some Cowboys fans have.

And while I don't think Stephen Jones is the greatest thing since sliced bread, I cannot wait until he has to put his father in a nursing home and this organization is no longer tied to the whims of Jerry.

Really surprising that they can't even scrape a 5th rounder or something out of one of these teams.

While I think the talk of first round picks and the like were totally overblown and ridiculous, I still think he had some value. To get nothing at all for him definitely seems like a front office screw up.

This just smells simply like Jerry giving one of his pet cats whatever he wants, feeling that he owes it to Romo to let him dictate his own path here.

Especially when there's a rush to do it? There is no rush for the team. That would only be in Romo's best interests.

I'll be seriously passed if this turns out to be true.

I'm not sure how everyone sees this as a failure if they aren't getting any offers. There are younger options out there on the trade market for anyone wanting to give premium picks. It's been months now that a market could have developed, and it hasn't. We need to move on.

If the FO wants McCown as backup, they can't wait around to sign him, so once you do that the jig is up.

If we find out they rejected a 4th rounder from someone out of sentiment, fine then that's a dumb thing to turn down, but everyone just thinking there has to be some mystery market for him is just wrong otherwise.

We aren't trading him to SF out of respect. I'm sure 12 teams would be interested if we just didn't care. Romo wants Houston or Denver and they know we're not going to trade him to a cheap team out of respect. Is it the right thing to do for the cowboys ? No. But it's the right thing to do for Romo.
If he goes to Denver, he is going to fall flat on his face. That team is declining fast

I root for the Cowboys, not the Romo's.

I mean I might get doing it now if the front office had a FA on the line they were ready to plow the money into. Like if they were going to eat the full cap hit this year and use the $5.1MM saved immediately to sign, say Peppers............

But they aren't. They are sitting out the first week of free agency waiting for bargains and will likely use him a June 1 cap hit. So what's the point of cutting him now?

Where's the pressure to do anything now? What deadlines do the Cowboys face?

what do you expect when they are courting the great services of JM...teams see they are moving on and it is just a matter of time they throw the towel in on the 4th highest rated QB of all time..if Romo wants to continue playing (starting)its on him but if he is willing to compete or be the backup then he should stay...either way its a sad day in the history of this franchise just like when Emmitt left...very sad and throw that on top of choking when it matters ...ughh...

Yeah other teams get stronger, yet we think we are ok with staying the exact same team.

I mean, cause we must be the best team to ever take the field.....except we aren't.

Can't even get a 7th rounder for Romo, fire that GM.

Only way this makes sense is if Tony agrees to restructuring his contract before release so we've not on the hook for eating nearly 1/7th of our cap on a QB who will be playing for someone else.

really .....you would rather lose out on picks and cap space just to have resolution

I can easily wait until after the Draft and June 1st if it helps the team more
I would have done alot of things differently. I would have tried to max out his value. They made it pretty clear they had very little interest in doing that. At this point, Id just assume abandon hope they do the righy thing for there organization and fans and move on

Yeah, a strong trade offer is coming on day 1 of free agency after rampant speculation that he will be released. The only way to get a strong offer is to let it be known he will remain a Cowboy without said offer and then you have to really mean it by holding onto him until a market develops.

Yeah we have appeared to mishandled this situation from go. That said I will still be suprised if no one swoops in and makes an offer in order to keep him off the market.

They played the whole Romo thing wrong from the beginning. Romo should have been the starter after he got back from injury. Dak wasn't going anywhere. He was still going to be our future. I know the ship has sailed now. Let's release him and let Denver ride with him deep into the playoffs.
