Wilcox and Church are essentially the Same player. They can't cover but are big hitters. Wilcox been laying some people out.

Mo was given around the same timetable, around 3-4 weeks. I'm guessing a week later at New York, when we'll need all our cb's for their wr's. So that is 26 days from now, another 3 1/2 weeks.

Church was 3-5 weeks estimated.

Claiborne was 4-6.

Ya, Claiborne was more of a guess. SInce he didn't have surgery. They asked Claiborne about his return a week or so ago, and he didn't even know or have any clue about it. With Church, it's an easier timetable for what they know of his broken bone.

Sorry for being off topic, but I still want to upgrade from the Church/Wilcox tandem this off season. Still pissed we didn't get Weddle.

I was in that same boat coming into this season, but given how both have played, I can't help but wonder if either one or even both might return on a reasonable contract.

I agree, get Church some where around 2m aav and Wilcox 1.2 or so aav and use the big money for DE and MLB. Draft DE and MLB as well. Stack the front seven. Re-sign Mo, at one point I was at 8aav but this has dropped due to yet another soft tissue injury, so now somewhere between 5-6 aav and re-sign Carr for ~3.5-4. That's small money right there and retains a very solid secondary. Weddle or a player of his ilk would be awesome, but our secondary, when healthy, isn't a weakness on this D squad, Stash. Front 7. The trenches. Hit it hard and our trenches can be beastly on both sides of the ball (Oline and D front 7). And with our dynamic O, we will be perennial contenders.

I was against free agency acquisitions when we were so far away, but this offseason we need to be major players, Stash :)

I think the two upgrades at safety have made a big difference this year. Byron Jones full time and Greg Jackson.

Greg Jackson has been awesome, morasp! He has shored up our safeties and his coaching is, without a doubt, rubbing off. All of our secondary coaches have been phenomenal this year. Great hires this last off season in Jackson and Baker (his promotion).

Also, always loved your avatar, man. Just wanted to tell you that :)

I like that plan. Keep what they have in the secondary and supplement that through the draft. That group was playing very well when healthy and more than held up their end of the deal. If anything needs improvement, it's obviously the pass rush.

I don't see them being major players. One because they likely can't afford to be long term, and two because they're drafting well and the plan to keep their own players is working well. But I would use a large portion of my draft equity to fix my obvious pass rush issues.

I don't mean 2015 offseason Giants type-free agent-players, I mean hitting that one key offseason player ala DWare for the Broncos of Revis for the Pats. Both helped put them over the top. Our GM needs to assess the free agent market with scalpel precision and pull the trigger on one single big name, and it needs to be either MLB or DE. My opinion of course, I do see the other side of the arguement. But when we're this close, we deserve to, at the very least, entertain the thought of a critical need being addressed through FA. For the first time in years, a big signing is finally viable, and believe me, I was against the big name signings.

We need to look close and hard at the upper echelon FA's in my opinion. This team isn't declining any time soon, we can make a single, large deal, imo. Respectfully, as always, Stash, my brudda.

If your expecting to get a DE in the 1st without seriously reaching, you will be disappointed this year. We may pick last or 2nd to last this year.

Then hopefully a solid MLB is on the board.

This is my point, Randy, we need to attack one or the other in Free Agency, depending on where the draft is lining up.

Are there any stud MLB's that may fall to the end of the first? Of course, last draft, there were several stud DE available towards the end of the first (Ogbah, for example).

Still, this needs to be a two-pronged attack. Free agency and draft.

I think we need to take a look at the possible free agent defensive ends for 2017.

That's what he said today in interviews and also was reported on the fan. So we'll be missing him just 2 more games.
Awesome, I feel much better with Church in our defensive backfield. He's our second best tackler and a good leader back there.

Zach Cunningham would be the big get at Linebacker. Can play all 3 spots and Dominate at all 3. McMillan out of Ohio State is a good traditional 4-3 Mike. Very strong and able to shed big blockers, good Blitzer, Solid in coverage. Jarrad Davis out of Florida. Little undersized but he plays much bigger then his actual size.
