Even more reasons to keep him. He's a veteran thats been in the playoffs, and has been apart of some good clubs. He's made every team he's gone to that much more explosive. Our 2007 offense looked like something we haven't seen in 15 years.
Don't drink the kool aid, the decline in production this year had more to do with Romo's injury, our o-lines poor performance, Kosiers injury, Felix's injury, and Roy William's futility - than Owens' talent declining.
I didn't say I was for or against the dismissal of T.O. I just think your premise is a little weak, in terms of comparing output over the years. For instance, as members of a team who has T.O. on it, you had better not be getting more touches or before you know it there will be conspiracy against him between you and the QB. And Roy Williams played for the Lions who haven't had a decent QB since, um, let me think, uh, I can't really name one in the history of their franchise worthy of mentioning.
That having been said, I'm not for replacing T.O. for one reason. Say what you want about him, Defensive Coordinators routinely gameplan against him. Just ask the Giants what it's like not to have the defense assigning two players to one receiver. They were the Super Bowl favorites up until Plax shot himself. Even they admitted his loss cost them more than what they originally realized it would. Which is why, barring a prison sentence, he is still a member of the team, regardless of Coughlin's tough stance against problem players.
