I broke my fibula same day (Dec 19) Owens did 5 years ago. I am walking with a cane today, and have been doing intense physical therapy without any surgery.

He played in the Super Bowl with plates and screws holding his ankle together. Grabbed 10 balls for 100 + yards, and watched his QB vomit his legendary performance away.

Thats the Owens I know. I stopped watching ESPN and reading lame blogs a while ago.

This may just be the single dumbest thing I've read on this board.

Really?

You must be suffering from short term memory loss.

The guy was a distraction from day one.

WHo was the only guy to miss mini camp and offseason workouts in 06? Oh thats right the new guy.

Who was one of the first guys to get injured in camp in 06? Oh thats right the new guy.

WHo made a spectacle of himself to show up the authority here by wearing a lance armstrong jersey and making a joke out of his injury? Oh thats right the new guy.

WHo made a rap song insulting his former team and making a spectacle of himself for only one reason, to promote his own brand....Thats right again the new guy.

Who caused the trip to philly in 06 to be a complete circus? Thats right the new guy.

WHo complained about his role in the offense and his qb after the 06 philly game? The new guy again.

How then got called out for his lazy ways and ad libbing on the field and in turn took a bunch of pills......the new guy again.

Dude this is just within the first 8 games he was here...I am going to stop there. He is what he is and what he has always been.

I think some of guys should go ask some non-Cowboy fans what they think the Cowboys should do with Owens.

Go ask some skins, giants and eagle fans.

I'm surrounded by eagle fans. You may be surprised to hear they do not have our best interest in mind.

They want us to release Owens.

They want his time here to be considered a failure. They know it was a mistake to release him in 2006. They know he makes us a better team.

True that is part of who Owens is there is also the Owens that 2 other organization could no longer deal with because of this behavior within the team. I see both sides of the argument because there seems to be 2 sides of Owens. The guy who is a playmaking WR who works hard and there is the pain in the butt that just wears on a team after a while. The only question I’m waiting to see answered is does the Cowboys organization and coaching staff feel they can continue to work with Owens or not? I don’t think anyone on the outside really knows

I don't follow the Giants and can't produce a list. I'm certain if I had a Mickey Spagnola role with the Giants, I could blow that list out of the water.

Burress IS a bad guy. On and off the field.
He was arrested for spousel abuse.
He is being prosecuted for dicharging an unlicensed firearm in public.

HE'S PACMAN JONES!

And you're comparing him to Owens? You need to reevaluate.

So Irvin was a worse teammate than Owens. Is that your position?

TO and Plaxico are two totally different types of distractions for their teams. They're night and day different in terms of the BS they bring to the table.

Uh-oh.

Now you have gone and done it.

Soon someone will call out sanders and the trio will be complete.

Watch out, the highlight reel watchers are going to come attacking.

Yeah, because you are a Rhodes scholar.

Come on seriously?? Is that necessary?

What are you trying to prove?

Maturity you lack.

I don't know if anyone would say that, right now (THough they should. I mean to my knowledge Owens has never stabbed a team mate with scissors), because they have the results of 3 Superbowls during those distractions to fall back on.

But I'd be willing to bet if you took the two, and flipped them, and it was Owens on those teams, winning Superbowls, people wouldn't care so much about his whinning and complaining.

But they'd be wanting Irvin out of here in a hot minute, regardless of his talent or how hard he worked on the field, because he was a distraction off the field and in the locker room for Dallas.

Totally different era's and situations. If those teams hadn't won like they did back then, if they'd been that talented and finished no better than 11-5 with only a playoff win or two then I'm certain, even if Irvin still put up all the same regular season numbers as he did, he wouldn't be foldly thought of, at all, today.

Winning tends to make people look better, regardless of what bad things they're doing off the field.

What's funny is that some Owens haters will tell you he did it all for himself. It was a selfish act and hurt his team.

Doesn't matter that he did it against the advice of team doctors, risked career threatening injury and oh by the way, was the best player on the field for either team that day!

Owens is not a leader. He's not the type of player that helps in the area of team unity.

So are a lot of GOOD to GREAT players in the NFL. Every year plenty of teams succeed with a number of these type players. We did in 2007.

Yeah, we succeeded because we were WINNING. But what happened when we had a subpar season? Owens through his QB, his offensive coordinator and the entire offensive scheme under the bus. T.O. is a choir boy when everything is going great, but when things go south, he almost morphs into a different person, mainly because Owens is bipolar and doesn't even know who he is. It's NEVER T.O.'s fault, right?

That's hilarious, if your so certain about that find the most popular boards for those teams and post that question. The people you hand out with are so sharp they sucked you.

None of us knew anything about the cowboys or irvin's problems until after we won those superbowls. He just came across as a flamboyant and firey guy.

After 96 and his problems came out, he was a major distraction.

I always contest, irvin did as much to this organization as he did for it.

Had I known irvin did that stuff before the superbowls I would have been very dissapointed in him. I hate having to root for criminals and people who think they are more important than everyone else.

I don't buy any of that. You act like winning and being a good teammate is all a crap shoot -- that you roll dice and if the right numbers come up, you win and every player is golden. That's not how it works.

Now I don't like criminals and honestly I don't like Irvin. But Irvin was undoubtedly a great teammate. He held people accountable and ALWAYS had his QB's back. He also never tried to convince teammates that the QB and OC were holding them back.

That's the difference between him and Owens.

Have you heard what Parcells has had to say about Owens on more than one occasion after his Cowboy tenure? May change you mindframe.
