Before predicting W’s and L’s on next year’s schedule-keep these stats in mind

Predicting wins and losses based on a schedule is nothing more than a thought experiment at this point. Teams change wildly from year to year in the NFL. Teams change during the season. Look how Tampa stomped us in week 1, then Dallas took them out easily in the playoffs.

Predicting is fun to do anyway. If the team is good, it should show on the field regardless of schedule. We only truly know how hard a schedule is after the season has been played.

He took my very fact based post and got very emotional over it didn't he. I'm gonna go out on a limb and predict he's a 6 win prediction kind of poster. :muttley:
How exactly did I get emotional about it? You replied to MY post, which is my opinion. You could have just read it, and moved on, but obviously it affected you enough to take the time and respond. You ok? Everything alright at home?

I certainly think this team looks to be improved in several areas from last year. On paper at this point. You can’t take anything for granted from year to year. Still have to prove it on the field. But this team looks to be improved.

My point in the OP is that the NFL is so hard to predict from year to year, and just wanted to provide some evidence of that fact. I know lots of fans will have fun making predictions as soon as the schedule appears, and that’s fine. Just know there WILL be surprises. It’s what makes every season fun and interesting.

Philly is not going to be as good as last year. Unfortunately, neither are the Cowboys.
I really believe the off-season acquisition via FA and getting Mazi and Schoonmaker make us better than last season…….what we don’t know is how much better some of the average teams will be next season

Teams like Detroit and Bears aren’t going to be pushovers and they have acquired a ton of skilled players

I look at this schedule and being maybe over confident I see the Cowboys going 4-0 out of the gate . Back to back Giants and Jets helps and the Cardinals . Followed by the less then scary Patriots at home .

I’m curious about why you see 4-0? It could certainly happen but the giants and jets both are (on paper) pretty good teams- especially the jets. I hope we start 4-0 but seems like a tall order.

I think the defense is better more active younger we swept the Giants last yr and at home for Jets I like our chances agsinst Rodgers . Cardinals and Patriots neither seem like playoff caliber. This schedule seems easier then 2022. McCarthy should at least go 12 wins three yrs straight .

Predicting NFL seasons is a lot like what Tyson said about fighters having a plan until they get hit in the mouth. It looks good on paper and then they begin to play.

Injuries dictate so much of it, all we need to see is SF without Purdy and DAL without Pollard to know that.

And it's not just sidelined players, it's those they have to play at 75-80% because of the lack of depth.

Right now, DAL looks like the 3rd best NFC team with a * depending on how effective Pollard will be, how intact that OL can stay and the availability and effectiveness of Parsons because without him this is an average defense, if that.

And the biggest question of all, will this be as good an offense with McCarthy/Shottenheimer running it? Because it struggled at times with Kellen Moore.

It is so hard to predict records this early. Last year's records don't mean anything this year. Some teams that were horrible last year will be improved and some teams that were good will not be as good this year. I think the Cowboys are going to be better with the additions of Gilmore and Cooks, but I wonder if Pollard will be as good without Zeke. If the Cowboys find a RB they will be a better team I think. Still it is not just about the Cowboys but also their opponents.

Also, it is all about attitude. What kind of attitude with the Cowboys play with this year. Last year it looked like they played with more edge than in previous years. Hopefully that continues.

Why would Dallas be worse? Unless you're a big KM/Schultz fan I don't understand.
die hard fans always ignore the players that leave cut etc, and same for coaches.
They only look at what was added, and assume it was all an upgrade.

Truth is coaches all on offense were let go, shultz was a key player, and some others are gone.

We cant accurately know if all these changes will translate into a better team than 2022.
IMO it is wait and see, at least 8 games and see what transpires.

Predicting is just for fun imo.

Last year I said dallas 10-7 and maybe 11-6, just guessing, and I was low but close.

Few weeks back I said 9-8 lol, but after looking at when they play certain teams, will probably upgrade that to higher level maybe 11-6

One example is a guy like duece, he may be great, or just meh, he may be used alot, or not much at all, we cant know.
Mike calling plays, will he be better than km, maybe but also maybe not, no way to know.
