Got to say I'm surprised at both sides.

Bill going to college with the NIL and transfer portal like the wild wild west and UNC firing Brown and going with a Dinosaur NFL HC.
He recently implied that college football is now similar to professional for the reasons you mentioned.

I mean the coaches and players are getting paid. So he has a point.

I don’t mind it. I think it’s the morally right thing for the players.

But in the NFL, there's contracts on term. Now maybe some NIL deals are multi year now, but players can be 1 year mercs in College.
And he'll be coaching a team that isn't bad, but is known more for basketball over football-and the ACC in general unless it's UM, FSU or Clemson seems to be a stepping stone for players. Play for a year, boost your stock to an SEC team.

I can't see too many 18 year olds wanting to play for him
IDK John........most, if not all these kids are thinking NFL. Now you playing for a legend with direct access to the league. I think a bigger question can Belichick handle the college culture and partying he's going to see from his players

Apparently, part of this names his son as his successor, so perhaps that's the motivating factor for Belichick in all of this.

Hate to sound pessimistic, but I have to wonder if some think Bill B could be there for 3-4 years.
Definitely will be a culture clash for Bill. I'm sure he dealt with partying with his NFL players, but this is a college lol.

It's a mess.......check this out for 18/19 year freshmen. No way in hell you will convince me these kids have enough maturity/mental development to handle this kind of money and fully commit to grades and playing football.

I say senile because I don't know how else to describe someone who REPEATEDLY makes the same mistakes over and over, yet refuses to change?
Here you go: https://www.webmd.com/mental-health/narcissism-symptoms-signs

  • "Sense of Entitlement - A common sign of people with narcissism is the belief that they are superior to others and deserve special treatment." 30-year GM job. Check.
  • "Manipulative Behavior - Another common trait of narcissism is manipulative or controlling behavior. A narcissist will at first try to please you and impress you, but eventually, their own needs will always come first." Ask any fan what Jones has said to please them and judge his actions after he closes his mouth. Check.
  • "Arrogance - People with narcissistic behavior already see themselves as superior to others, so they may become rude or abusive when they don’t receive the treatment they think they deserve." Remember when the reporter asked him about using curtains to stop blinding players? And he responded by saying, "You want me to tear down the stadium?" Or. Remember when the 1053TheFan hosts asked him about him retaining his role as GM and he threatened their jobs? Yeah. Check.
There are other applicable traits. There may be blowback concerning whether he has lack of empathy but all traits need not necessarily apply for correct labeling.

Jerry Jones is not senile. He is a narcissist.

I wanted Bill here but it was always a stretch to think it would be a real possibility. Vrabel would be great, but I'm sure ol Jerrah is looking at the defense and licking his chops at being able to hire Zimmer.

Jerrah was never going to hire a real football coach that would run the team. He doesn't need a new stadium so there was no motivation to give up some of his limelight to someone like BB. We are stuck with Jerrah until the day he dies. He is the Dallas Cowboys which is why they suck.

The Bears are looking at Vrabel. Jerrah would be way too afraid to hire a coach like Vrable. Vrabel won't take any of Jerrah's crap so that will never happen. Just look for a meek type of personality that will just be happy being a coach and will let Jerrah continue to be the personality of the team.

It's my understanding it's the straw.......foundation to start his son's career as a head coach.
