That's a rather stupid answer, he gives. As if he couldn't rest a couple of guys because of numbers.

I have zero problem with Belichick's answer. "Some" is ambiguous. If the author of the question wanted a more detailed answer, he or she should have suggested which players they considered required rest--hopefully while taking into considering the limitations of resting too many players.

We have 7 OL on the roster, so you can only rest 2 of them. We use 6 OL at times with Looney as that extra TE type player. Tackle eligible.
Maybe use Escobar more, but we only have 2 TE's active right now.
Can spell Zeke more with DMC, Morris.
Put in Romo in the 2nd half possibly
Play Whitehead and Mayle and Butler more at WR.

Could get Nzeocha some playing time over Durant and let him heal, give Lee some snaps off.
Need to keep that rotation on the DL though, they need the reps to find / work on that pass rush. Maybe give Crawford more plays off to heal. And let DLaw sit, need to get him100%.
Mo, yes let him get 100%...or get him some plays to knock off any rust. Speel others that have any nagging injuries.

but there is not much you can do, nor do you want to do. Keep that edge.

Right. Obviously you can't rest 22 guys. But there's a big difference between that and resting a handful of your best players.
Well we had a post where someone wanted to rest the entire offensive line, Dez, Dak and Zeke.

But Bill's feelings are clear on this if you've watched him the last decade. He plays to win every game.

The league increasingly doesn't want to see its product diminished in an way that will impact fan interest.

So even if coaches are going to rest key players...they aren't going to come out and say it.

Bill gave a more transparent answer a year ago. Under similar circumstances he said,

"We'll just have to do the best that we can to balance all those things out," Belichick told reporters on Monday, per Pro Football Talk.

"That's something we'll have to give some thought to, and get as much information as possible because there are some guys that are in various states of physical health. We'll have to work our way through all that. It's definitely a challenging situation. I wish I had a cleaner answer on it, but really we're just going to have to work it out."

I think Bill knows in this case "resting" doesn't mean getting players some rest.:)
