Could you imagine a fighter taking 3 weeks off before his fight. That would be terrible

i mean just because they don't play a full game does not mean that they are taking practices off. They should be practicing hard as usual which usually ends up being the most important thing to winning games.

That's a rather stupid answer, he gives. As if he couldn't rest a couple of guys because of numbers.

Yeah stupid that is why he plays them and wins SB same with Jimmy Johnson who played his starters even after all was wrapped up..

You might not be able to "rest" 22 players but you sure can start all (or most) of your backups and limit the number of snaps your starters get. Let's not pretend that there aren't active players who get 0-10 snaps while there are others who get 50+. Just reverse the number of snaps.

I think it is very likely starters will not play the full game I would almost bet the house on that but I think the reg starter will play at the start.

A fighter won't stop working out, but a fighter would also not engage in a competitive fight before the main event either.

Yes very true but he would be sparring like crazy. Keeping his body use to taking hits. But it's true he's not going to go all out.

I do as well and wish all coaches took the same approach. Coaches aren't obligated towards divulging any information that an opponent could use to counter their gameplan. On the other hand, coaches might feel it necessary to open up about certain details if the questions posed lacked thought or were not transparently repetitive sometimes.

The latter is a pet peeve of mine. For example, a reporter asks if a player will be active for the next game? The coach replies that the player is being evaluated and may play. Then the reporter asks if the player will be active for the game if they pass the evaluation? So the coach replies that the player hasn't been ruled out for the game and is currently being evaluated. Like clockwork, the reporter asks if the player isn't ruled out on Saturday will he play on Sunday?

It's the same dang-blasted question spoked slightly different every time! It's an example of why I could never be a coach dealing with the media. I would tell so many reporters to take a long walk off a short pier.
JJT is really bad with this. I remember he tried to bait Parcells into answering a question about TO being late to practice, by asking the same question three different ways.

He's such a **** just answer the question. You know what they're asking.

Like the media is anybody's friend.

First chance they get they throw you under the boss, and run over your name, all for the sake of a good story and a check.

You nor I are a celebrity, so we don't know what exactly they go through.

I don't know why we're still discussing something that Garrett already clarified.

He did? Oh good, please tell us how long Dak and Zeke are going to play. You know, since he's been so clear.

Coach is not going to be clear on this and there is no need to, this is not the evening news. Coaches tend to be very vague in their responses. They are not going to sit there and say Dak will get this many snaps and Zeke will get this many snaps. From their stand point there is no reason to say

Actually, that was a good answer. You can't rest 22 guys. You can rotate players, but you can't rest them all.

Your QB needs less rest than your OL, but are you really going to rest your OL while your QB is out there? No.

Running backs can use rest, but your RB also protects your QB.

You can lower the workload on players, but you can't rest them all. Resting a QB is almost completely pointless.
