All of that is true, and I wouldn't argue with it.

Funny thing is, if Romo plays the last game, the Cowboys probably make the playoffs--Ben Bass or no. Of course, they probably get throttled by New Orleans the next week, but it would've been nice to get the chance.

What's it going to be then, eh?

Ben Bass is now a street free agent, which is exactly the kind of player the Cowboys were relying on last year at defensive tackle. If someone thinks he was the difference between playoffs and no playoffs, so be it.

Never heard of a team trading someone and then signing them back a week or so later.

That's the thing with these games. It's like the Chip Kelly thing where he's trying to get 1 or 2 percent efficiency in a thousand different areas and add that all up to an actual advantage. Even upgrading a guy or two in a couple of packages, or not losing a guy or two for an extra game or two, can be the difference between a playoff spot and another depressing offseason.

I agree in principle, but I'm not certain that Bishop's not slightly better than Hayden. Bishop will likely make more mistakes, but he has some quickness to get to some plays that Hayden can't. If McClain can't play, then they probably need both Hayden and Bishop because guys like Coleman or Minter are not a good option at the 1-tech DT position.

They say that T. McClain will attempt to practice on Saturday and might have practiced a couple of days earlier if not for the Thursday game.

I'm about ready to give up trying to predict what they will do. I'm irritated with the Spencer decision.

Yeah, that Spencer spot was the Bishop spot, in my opinion. Buy 6 weeks to see McClain in the lineup and decide whether you'd rather have Bishop's upside over Hayden's lukewarm consistency. Now, it makes it really tough to keep the rookie unless he's progressing really quickly in terms of anchoring against that double team consistently.

I like Bishop a lot, too. I'd hate to expose him to the rest of the league, because there's a good chance we'd lose him.

A couple of stops by the defense here and there and we cruise into the playoffs Bass or no bass.

You better hope Mom doesn't catch you. :)

Was hoping you'd delete them before she came sniffing around. So I can get props for being 'edgy' from our unwashed masses without getting taken behind the woodshed.

I'm not sure how to give you a good answer on that at this time. :)

The size of the one (Bass) that got away may grow to legendary proportions before all is said and done.

Should be interesting to see if Belichek reclaims him to the PS in the event he clears waivers.
