Spencer thinks he's going to find a better chance to start somewhere else? Really? Hardy is likely to be out some games, Lawrence is a rookie from last year who was out most of that time, and Mincey is a journeyman who had a solid but certainly not spectacular year. He also visited Seattle a couple weeks back. Was he thinking they were going to start him? lol

So now Spencer will come back less a starting job and his jersey. Oh, how he has been humbled......

#93 is good. Gardner is one of the pups I am looking for to take a big step forward this camp and play a major role in the DL rotation. I know he hasn't proven anything yet and was a 7th round pick, but had a season ending pectoral injury which hurt his chances, probably would have been a mid round pick. Has a great motor, instints, smart, disruptive and can put pressure from the inside----probably does this better than coming around the edge Oh, and he also plays with a mean streak.

The guy was all Pac 12--first team as a 5th year senior. Not known much is that he was the DE that perhaps helped teammate OLB Trent Murphy lead the nation in sacks. Murphy was taken in the 2nd round by the skins. And guess what number Murphy was---yep, #93. So the man has skills, just needs to be healthy in camp to display them.

Cowboys gave Ben Gardner #93 jersey number. Sounds like they quit pursuing Anthony Spencer.

I can't see Spencer being given a starting job anywhere. If he wants a chance to start, his best bet might be to re-sign with Dallas since Hardy will most likely be suspended. Then, he just has to contend with Mincey and Lawrence. Maybe he can find some team with a weak starting end he can beat out, but there's not going to be too many places where he's considered anything more than a rotation player at this point.

Well let him try to go and do that. I don't see him getting another chance to start anywhere decent anyway.

Well, I hope they move on. Nothing against Spencer, but I would like to see more young talent come in and fight for spots.

Here's to hoping Gardner can be a solid rotational piece for the Cowboys

I'd like to see him come back and some young talent prove it deserves to be on the roster ahead of him, but that's just me. I don't like just hoping that a player like Gardner can be a solid rotation piece without evidence of it. I know Spencer can at least be that.

If Spencer really did say or allude to that, then I'm not sure if I'd want him back. It almost sounds like he expects to have the starting position handed to him. Either that, or he doesn't think he'll be able to beat out his competition here. In any case, it's probably best for both sides if he moves on.
