Not an assumption just going by what he's saying. There's nothing wrong at all with him saying how he feels. I don't want you to think i'm defending him because I want him to be the coach or something, doesn't matter if it's him or someone else at this point. Jerry's going to do what he wants, hell MM might be our coach for the next how many seasons!!
I think you are misunderstanding what I am saying. You are quoting a sports writer, not the coach.

The sports writer says he said those things and he's doing so by framing them in a specific context.

Now, maybe everything Breer is saying Johnson said is verbatim, but it's also possible Breer asked him the questions and Johnson replied, "Yes" because they made logical sense, not because they were the most important issues to him.

In any case, even if Johnson said those things exactly, I stated in a previous post that it's the best way to mitigate speculation and rumors during an ongoing season.

If I was the Lions organization or a Lions fan, I would not want one of my coaches focused on the job they will have next season when they have a team going through a Super Bowl run right now.

As I said, I never put any weight behind players or coaches who are under a current contract when they start talking about their next contract because none of it is relevant until they become available.

Why would any respectable coach want to come to the Cowboys? They get stuck with a gimpy QB that can't run and lacks accuracy and can't read defenses or throw WRs open. It's a recipe for failure. On top of all that they don't get to pick their coaching staff and an owner/GM that wants all the credit for anything good.

nobody mentioned that except you, I guess some may be fine with this request, but not the request that he wants organizational accountability, every time I read this from him, I despise Jerry even more!!!!!
Nobody mentioned what? The report is he wants 15 million

I don’t think he wants control. He just doesn’t want someone all over him. I’m sure he’d be perfectly with a GM who wasn’t Jerry lol.

"Two, he wants what Breer called "organizational alignment between the GM and the head coach.''

"And three, per Breer, "He’ll be looking for recognition from the organization of the things that have gone wrong, and a willingness to fix them.”

Might as well count him out!! He wants accountability

Jesse Holley knows no more about the inner workings of the Cowboys (or Lions) than any of us do.

Every coach should have control/accountability. Its the only way to have success. Jerry’s meddling has killed us for 30 years now.

Why does this rule out Jerry? More threads more Jerry hate.:popcorn:
You really think Jerry provides any head coach:

#1) Organizational alignment between the head coach and the GM

#2) Acknowledgment of where things went wrong in the past and a willingness to fix them

Jerry Jones famously butts heads with his coaches and interferes with football operations far more than a GM should. He also has shown a nearly unshakable faith in his team building strategy despite having never built a squad capable of making it out of the divisional round in nearly 30 years. Personally, if I were a coach looking to win a Superbowl one day, Dallas would probably not be my first choice destination.

If Jerry has a brain, he interviews him anyway, just to get his read on the team. Johnson's main emphasis will likely be a solid running game and a defense that can stop the run. Coaches who emphasize running the ball understand the importance of stopping it too.

we do this every week in talking about running the ball, yet we have a backup throwing the ball 40 times

You have no idea what goes on inside the organization as far as accountability. What Jerry says to the media and what Jerry says behind closed doors are likely entirely different statements. You'll find very people who have worked for Jerry that have much bad to say about him and multiple coaches have come back and worked under him for multiple stints. Most organizations are not going to give a coach as much control as he reportedly wants. He can tell the GM "Hey, I'd like that player" but that doesn't mean he's going to get him or have the power to go out and sign that player. He's never been a head coach and to think you would start with that kind of power is ludicrous. Also, $15m? I mean, that's money that's coming directly out of Jerry's pocket and doesn't reflect the salary cap so Jerry can pay HC's whatever outrageous amount he wants, but I don't he's dropping $15m on a guy with no proven HC'ing experience.

Anyway, sorry to interrupt. Please continue with your Jerry hate.

For someone who's never been a headcoach at any level, he sure has alot of demands. Money/control/accountability now
Because if Jerry meddles with the team while he coaches them, that could set his career back.
