The only reason I question the Kendricks and McKinney picks is, we have had tremendous success selecting linebackers after, and sometime well after, the first round. Add to that the fact that, without shuffling players around, there isn't an open position.

More and more I think if one of the top corners isn't there, it's trade back or bust.

All that said, McKinney's tape is some of the most impressive tape of the entire class of linebackers. He has serious wow potential. If we could trade back into the very early second and grab him, I would be ecstatic. Especially if he can rush the passer. Crawford and Hardy inside with McKinney and Lawrence outside on passing downs. Yeah, it's a stretch... But wowzers

just what has mckinney shown as a pass rusher to be worth a 1st round pick. he's a normal 2 down run stuffer, good player and all but to select him based on the fact he can rush on 3rd downs, just who is he going to replace on the line? hardy? lawrence?
dont like it,

I would have to disagree completely. This team is playing with fire (again) by hoping Sean Lee can escape the injury bug and and Rolando McClain can be concussion free (not to mention he is one step away from suspension). Outside of Lee and Hitchens, they have nothing worth mentioning on this roster for the long haul. This speaks volumes on a complete lack of success in drafting linebackers, period.

Linebackers in 2015:
Sean Lee - Drafted 2nd round, signed through 2019
Anthony Hitchens - Drafted 4th round , signed through 2017
Kyle Wilber - Drafted 4th round, signed through 2015
Rolando McClain - Free agent signing through 2015
Jasper Brinkley - Free Agent signing through 2016
Keith Rivers - Free Agent signing through 2015
Andrew Gachkar - Free Agent signing through 2016

They need a catalytic playmaker that can stay on the field in the worst possible way.

dont like it,

Apparently our coaches love what they saw, normally I hate these half-cocked schemes like when we tried Scandrick or Carr at safety, but this might be a win-win type gamble.

– Interesting note. Yesterday a source told me linebacker Benardrick McKinney spent an extensive amount of time the past few days talking with the Denver Broncos and Dallas Cowboys. I previously reported on the Bronocs interest in McKinney and late last week tweeted the Cowboys were able to get in a last minute workout with the junior. Today I’m told if Kevin Johnson is unavailable when the Cowboys are on the clock in round one they will strongly consider either McKinney or Eric Kendricks. I’ve heard so much chatter connecting the Cowboys and McKinney the past three weeks I’ve got to believe where there’s smoke there’s fire.

Cannot say how I would react. The same goes for Kendricks now that knee issue has been floated out there.

It seems to me they are interested in him for that OTTO position or a full on conversion to DE.

Id almost prefer the latter because I really dont want to pick a player for an expirimental position in the first. IMO if you want a player for an expirimental position, take Kikaha in the 4th or 5th. We already have one high draft pick wasting away because we didn't stick to a plan with an expiriment.

If they successfully convert him to DE, then thats a win for the scouting department amd coaching staff

However the upside to a position like an OTTO of a LEO is that if you get it, you kill two birds ( LOLB, 3rd down RDE) with one stone

I prefer Mckinney over Johnson, because he can cover two positions (DE and LB), besides there will be good corners in the second and the third.

Kendricks would almost be Sean Lee insurance as he is not going to be the MLB and I have questions if he can be the strongside LB. If they did draft him, they would need to sell me on how he would get on the field.

I think you can move McClain to the left side and he would impact the defense the same way he did in the middle. He played a solid all around game last year, but his biggest asset to the defense was his physicality, which would be on full display on the left side.

If we took Kendricks, I would stick him in the middle and kick McClain left

Broaddus' board was frightening. If it is a reflection of how Dallas' looks, I weep for us.

Eric Rowe is missing. Probably others.

Red overrated.

Blue underrated.

1. Leonard Williams DT USC See a lot of Gerald McCoy in this player
2. Dante Fowler DE Florida Believe he is a better player than Anthony Barr '14.
3. Todd Gurley RB Georgia One of those backs that never comes off the field.
4. Amari Cooper WR Alabama Smooth and reliable. Makes plays down after down.
5. Trey Waynes CB Michigan State Receivers have a hard time getting away from him.
6. DeVante Parker WR Louisville Has some Dez Bryant to him in the open field.
7. Kevin Johnson CB Wake Forest Love his length. Can deny the ball. Stays in position.
8. Kevin White WR West Virginia Size with the ability to adjust. Tough in the air.
9. Brandon Scherff OG Iowa Much better run blocker than pass. See him at guard.
10. Bud Dupree DE Kentucky Is a fit in a 4-3 or 3-4. Would play as a left end here.
11. Jameis Winston QB Florida State No questions about his leadership and physical traits.
12. Byron Jones CB Connecticut Can really cover some ground in coverage. Physical.
13. Marcus Mariota QB Oregon Accurate but lacks arm to make all the throws.
14. Marcus Peters CB Washington Plays with a chip on his shoulder. Outstanding in man.
15. Vic Beasley DE Clemson Might be better suited as a 3-4 OLB. Can really rush.
16. T.J. Clemmings OT Pittsburgh Athletic enough to play either side. Works hard to finish.

17. La'el Collins OT LSU Is not the prettiest blocker but effective. Might be a guard?
18. Danny Shelton DT Washington Is a load to handle inside. Strong. Active down line.
19. Tevin Coleman RB Indiana One of the most complete backs in the draft.
20. Carl Davis DT Iowa Played as both a nose and under-tackle in Iowa's scheme.

21. Shane Ray DE Missouri Explosive first step quickness. Can capture the edge.
22. Duke Johnson RB Miami Great scheme fit. Does a great job of avoiding tacklers.
23. Melvin Gordon RB Wisconsin Can run himself out of tight spots. Breaks tackles.
24. Erick Flowers OT Miami Mauler-Brawler. Works hard to finish blocks. Right tackle.
25. Dorial Green-Beckham WR Oklahoma Smooth athlete that plays effortlessly. Big time size.

26. Eric Kendricks ILB UCLA Is a sideline-to-sideline player in every sense of the word.
27. P.J. Williams CB Florida State Has the length and the movement skills to shut down receivers.
28. Bernardrick McKinney ILB Mississippi State Thumper as a MIKE. Could put his hand down a rush on 3rd down
29. Randy Gregory DE Nebraska Talented but off field questions now hang over head.
30. D.J. Humphries OT Florida Big man that is very light on his feet. Good in space.
31. Malcom Brown DT Texas Have seen him be a dominating player but also get dominated.
32. Shaq Thompson OLB Washington Can really run. Outstanding at creating turnovers. Can cover.
33. Jalen Collins CB LSU Can play on either side of the field and the slot as well.

34. Nelson Agholor WR USC Smooth route runner. Catches the ball well in his hands.
35. Maxx Williams TE Minnesota Plays all over the formation. Mismatch player. Hard to cover.
36. Phillip Dorsett WR Miami Can really fly - plays to his timed speed in the 40.
37. Cedric Ogbuehi OT Texas A&M Size and feet. Lacks some power now but has a chance to be great.
38. Cameron Erving C Florida State Best Center in the Draft. Could play Tackle as well. Smart.
39. Andus Peat OT Stanford Gets away from the line well in pass protection.
40. Breshad Perriman WR Central Florida Nice when he can run inside routes. Can adjust down field.
41. Damarious Randall S Arizona State Cowboys sent a coach to work him out - a true free safety here.
42. Jalen Strong WR Arizona State Not afraid to give up body to make a play. Great in the air.
43. Ronald Darby CB Florida State Has the speed and quickness to run with anyone. Physical at line.
44. Eddie Goldman DT Florida State Does a really nice job at holding the point of attack. Can push.
45. A.J. Cann OG South Carolina Powerful man that can get some push. Hard to move him.
46. Landon Collins S Alabama I would consider him as strong safety only. Could be an OLB?
47. Clive Walford TE Miami Position blocker and good at it. Can make plays down the field.
48. Eli Harold DE Virginia Is bigger in person than he looks on tape. Sharpens the edge.
49. Jay Ajayi RB Boise State Can run the ball inside or out. Needs to become a better blocker.
50. Davin Smith WR Ohio State Explosive down the field player. Makes big plays.

I don't belief it's a good philosophy to draft injury insurance in the first round. I didn't say I didn't think they should take one at all, I just don't think, with the roster situated how it is, they need to take one high. If they got another Hitchens type in the middle rounds they would be looking very good.

Left side? Are you saying he could play the SLB position?

I think moving McClain to SLB is completely washing out his talents. That guy needs to be in a position to flow to the play. Middle or WLB is his best spot. I don't want him chasing TE's down field.

I dont see too much wrong with this list, seems about right except overrating CBs.Clive Warford seems really high though.

He doesn't even know the names of the players at the start of January. Literally doesn't know the names.

That's about as worthless a list as you'll find.

McKinney could be this years Travis Frederick, a player the Cowboys rate higher than most teams and draft media. I could see the Cowboys having a high second round grade on McKinney and taking him at 27 if all their players with 1st round grades are off the board.
