Is this true? I seem to recall the Cowboys admitted later there was a CB left in the board that they had rated higher.
Not sure if he was BPA but Taco was considered a late 1st rounder where we took him he was just a bust…I never considered him a reach just wish we would’ve taken Watt.

They had Taco as a 2nd rd grade and thought the depth at corner was easier to find later. That was the draft in which they selected both Awuzie and Lewis. Taco was Marinelli's call over the scouts as he never seen him play with his hand on the ground.

This.

King was the only player available when they picked still with a first round grade. But they believed the depth at CB was greater in the draft than DE, so they took the DE thinking they'd come back with quality CBs later.

As you said Marinelli might be the fleas ridden dog in this mess. He wasn't creative enough to see/think he could get something out of TJ Watt. What a mistake.

Scouts liked Watt more, but front office gave Marinelli the power to select Taco.

The Cowboys might have had him in the 2nd but mist if the media scouts had him end of the 1st.

We didn’t reach for him he was just a bust.

Cowboys had a 2nd rd grade, but you are right Taco was a 1st rd player by the media scouts that year.

I'm not drafting a corner who just had hip surgery. That's just ridiculous. He's definitely a first round talent in this class though.

I actually really liked the strategy that year. Get the Edge early bc the CB depth was so deep and it landed Chido and JLew who started a lot of games.

If Taco would’ve hit would’ve been epic.

You can say that about receiver this year with the depth at DT and RB
