Yes, absolutely 100%! How else will we fill our biggest holes in need??? And you wonder why we keep falling short for almost 30 years?
We keep falling short bc we don’t do enough in FA then we force need picks over talent in the draft.

When we’ve taken the BPA it’s led to picks like Martin, Lamb, Parsons, Diggs etc…

When we draft for needs it’s led to picks like Taco, Mazi, Guyton, Schoon etc (I do have hopes for Mazi).

Taking the best talent wins just about every time.

True. BUT is he? The board that gives recommendations to pro prospects is usually pretty decent about its evaluation of a players draft status. I imagine he will wait for that and see.
He’s top 15 on Danes board and is considered a 1st rounder by most. So yes, he’s a freaking stud.

You're wrong. We took needy players like Tyron Smith, Micah Parsons, Zack Martin was also a need, etc in early rounds. All turned out smart picks. Remember, Jerry wanted Johnny Manzel, but someone convinced him to instead pick a player of need in Zack Martin, so you got that wrong.

There are more but you get the point.

Go check out the consensus boards on the players I’ve referenced and you’ll see they were all BPA but believe what you want.

According to consensus taco was bpa. Yall are arguing about nothing. Nobody does bpa in the NFL. Nobody. It's a mix of bpa and need but I'll let yall continue

Just not enough info out there about his prognosis. I cant find anything saying more than " season ending hip injury"

If he is expected to be 100% by camp, I think he is going in the top 20

Targeting needs is something of a fools errand IMO. Rosters in the NFL change too fast, and rookies are seldom able to contribute immediately. Hell, half the early rounders won't even make it as NFL players.

Adding good football players is priority #1. You can use need to sieve between similarly graded players, but how many times has Dallas drafted a "need" player over a slap-in-the-face BPA player and ended up happy with their choice 4 years later.

I don't see a lot of "impact" prospects in the 12-15 range this year. There's some good football players for sure, but they're not guys who look like Pro Bowl game changers. If you think Morrison is a game changer, you pick him for sure.

100% spot on.

I think casual fans look at the draft and think what do I need right now instead of realizing you’re trying to find a player that’ll be good on for the next 4/5 years on their rookie contract.

You’re also trying to replace aging vets and / or expensive contracts for cheap.

Hypothetically if Morrison is the pick, and he’s good and it allows you to let Bland walk, you’ve saved about 15+ million that would’ve been used on Bland to spend on FAs or other contracts.

The long game of the draft is incredibly important which is why you take talent over need.
