Best American Rock Band

heh I hate these types of questions. It's like asking you what your favorite food is. It seriously depends on my mood at any set time.

Metallica has an ENORMOUS playlist of songs that are not just good, but fantastic. Not many bands out there have produced as many incredible songs, but there are some. GnR was on a roll right out of the gate but trailed off.

While Slayers great song list isn't near as large as Metallica's. They put out several monster albums (I would say at least 5) that will always be in my playlist. Pantera has a ton of great stuff too and these are just metal.

Joe Bonamassa and Kenny Wayne Sheppard have tons of great music too and you can't talk rockin blues without SRV and all his great music.

As I said, I hate these types of questions.

Well you're the Grand Poobah, so it's up to you to do something about it. In other words, we're stuck with it.
I distinctly remember running on the platform there would be no policies, rules or regulations, a disorganized anarchy would be better managed. Or why would anyone have voted for me? I've got all those skeletons in the closet. One in a natty Marie Antoinette giddup.

Prince Edward Island? Nova Scotia? New Brunswick? I've always wanted to visit up there.

New Brunswick. She is French, smart, and a true smart ***. Couldn't care less about American football but don't get in her way when it comes to hockey. She even watches the classic NHL channel. She's a Leaf fan.

Our first was born in Bangor, Maine as we moved up there when her mom had a protracted illness. (we are RN's so jobs were easy to get) 3 hour drive from Bangor to her home if the border crossing went smooth. We go up yearly.

We spent quite a bit of time in Halifax, NS too (family). I go for the lobster and beer (my FIL is pretty cool too).

Now that you mention it, I believe that was @ESisback who was responsible for making sure nobody had any responsibilities.

And ZZ Top was a very good suggestion for this thread.

While I’m a HUGE advocate of irresponsibility, I’m absolutely maniacal about sloth and absurdity. Drunken perversion is just a happy byproduct!

Wait, what were we talking about?

It's really hard to say who the best is. How do you judge it? Music is subjective... would you do it by album sales, tour sales, both, quality of music? Number of albums made? Who they've influenced? What?

I don't think there is one band that you can point out and say "Yep, those guys...best American band ever."
totally opinion based

The joy of these questions is you get to talk about these great bands or whatever is discussed.

Only band I really argue against is Metallica. Strong musically but the corporate sell out was full force and complete.
I do love Pantera and SRV.

Yep! Almost totally objective. If you HAD TO, I suppose you could examine how each one ranked in multiple categories:

1)Longevity. How long have they been around?
2)How many hits?
3)How many records sold?
4)How many fans?
5)How many list them as an influence?
6)How many concerts?
7)Are they showman? Do they have charisma?
8)Merchandising?
9)Good songwriters?
10)Good singers? Good musicians?

Being a sellout or even synthesizing music like people hate Nickleback, and Iron Maiden's Seveth Son album, or even Creed / Greta Van Fleet because they sound like someone else.

That doesn't bother me one bit. I listen to music if it's good. If it's good, no matter how it's made or what they did / change. I doesn't bother me one bit. Metallica's Black album is a great album even if it doesn't sound like Master of Puppets or Ride the Lightning.

Lifes too short to stress bull****. Enjoy what's there to be enjoyed. Bleep drama
