Posted 4 linemen and 4 linebackers
Sorry for the misunderstanding.

NextGenBoys;2795707 said:Damnit Hos, I'm supposed to be writing a paper. :bang2:
QB: I think I'm going Elway as well. Clutch, and could run.
HB: Emmitt Smith. Homer? Maybe
FB: Jim Brown. Brown was listed as a FB, not a halfback.
TE: I'd have to go with Gonzo as well. Witten has a chance here though.
WR: Jerry Rice. 'Nuff said.
WR: Randy Moss. Wont go over the middle, but you dont need him to.
I'm going to skip Oline, because I dont know enough about prevous linemen.
DE: Randy White
DT: Warren Sapp
DT: Randy White
DE: Deacon Jones. Coined the term sack for a reason.
OLB: Jack Lambert.
MLB: Ray Lewis. Close 2nd was Dick Butkis, but his team never won.
OLB: Derrick Thomas. Tragedy kept him from being an all-time great.
CB: Dick Lane. Still has NFL record 14 picks that he set AS A ROOKIE
CB: Deion Sanders.
FS: Ed Reed. My age is showing here, but he's a freak, and playing hurt with nerve damage for the rest of his career.
SS: Definately Ronnie Lott.
Hostile;2795645 said:QB...Peyton Manning. When it's all said and done, he will be a record holder in every major category.
RB...Walter Payton. This is the hardest one for me. Jim Brown?
FB...Larry Csonka. Would fight you.
TE...Shannon Sharp. three - 1000 yard seasons, 8 Pro Bowl and 2 Super Bowl appearances.
WR...Jerry Rice. The best football player I have ever seen.
WR...Michael Irvin. Three-time Super Bowl Champ, most competitive player I've ever seen.
LT...Anthony Munoz. I believe he is in the top 3 players ever.
LG...John Hannah. His wars with Randy White are the best football I have ever seen.
C...Mike Webster. 9-Time Pro Bowl appearances, team captain of the Steelers for 9 years, helped lead Steelers to Super Bowl.
RG...Larry Allen. The most powerful player ever.
RT...Dan Dierdorf. One of the most underrated guys ever because he was a Cardinal.
Defense
LDE...Reggie White. The Minister of Defense was a terror.
DT...Randy White. Half man. Half monster. All around awesome.
DT...Mean Joe Green. Was the foundation of the Steelers defense and was unstoppable.
RDE...Deacon Jones. The center piece fo the Fearsome Foursome and the guy peopel really did fear.
OLB...Jack Lambert. If you needed a big stop, this guy made it.
MLB...Dick Butkus. He defined nasty and he could destroy an Offense.
OLB...Lawrence Taylor. Only Jerry Rice was a better football player IMO.
CB...Mel Blount. Another player form the steel curtain. Much like sanders, few QBs dared to throw his way.
SS...Ronnie Lott. Oh my gosh what a game changer.
FS...Ken Houston. Bawlhawk that could lay the wood. 49 career Ints....
CB...Deion Sanders. The only true "Shut Down Corner" I have ever seen.
THUMPER;2795910 said:OK, I usually put together a TEAM that I feel would play well together and fit the style I would use, but I'll go strictly with who I believe was the BEST at their position:
QB: Otto Graham The best QB ever to play the game IMO. Johnny Unitas would be my 2nd choice.
RB: Emmitt Smith Could do it all and was money when you needed him. Tough to pick him over Payton but I've made a lot of comparisons over the years and Emmitt comes out on top.
FB: Jim Brown Not the best blocker but was a beast running the ball. Could have gone with Jim Taylor
WR: Jerry Rice The obvious choice.
WR: Paul Warfield Best deep threat ever IMO. Considered Don Hutson here.
TE: Kellen Winslow A couple I could have picked here but Winslow dominated the game.
OT: Anthony Munoz Easy pick.
OT: Jim Parker Wanted to go with Erik Williams but he didn't play long enough IMO.
OG: Larry Allen Another easy pick.
OG: John Hannah No brainer.
C: Jeff Van Note The guy was outstanding for a LONG time but he played on some lousy Falcons teams. Could have gone with Webster but he played on a good team with other good players, Jeff didn't.
P: Sammy Baugh I can't have a team without Baugh and his punting records STILL stand today.
K: Morten Andersen Could have gone with Gary Anderson and been OK but I liked Morten.
DT: Bob Lilly The best there ever was, bar none!
DT: Merlin Olsen No question about it. Wanted to have Randy White or Ernie Stautner but couldn't pick them over Olsen.
DE: Deacon Jones Defined the sack and was just a beast. Could have gone with Gino Marchetti though.
DE: Reggie White This one was tough because I couldn't stand him but facts are facts and Wedgie was the best.
OLB: Lawrence Taylor Another no brainer.
OLB Bobby Bell Tough choice but amazingly, there aren't that many great OLBs. Lots of MLBs though. Thought about going with Howley here.
MLB: Dick Butkus Bill George, Singletary, or Bednarik would have worked here but Butkus was the best ever.
S: Ronnie Lott Just too dominant to not have him here.
S: Emlen Tunnell People that never saw him missed a great player.
CB: Mike Haynes IMO the best CB ever. Could do it all and was a TRUE shut-down corner. He could cover short or deep and could tackle as well.
CB: Dick "Night Train" Lane Lots of guys I could have gone with here but he had an intimidation factor that the others didn't have plus he was a great cover guy on top of it. He still holds the record for INTs in a season set as a rookie in 1952!
Keep in mind, this is NOT a team I would put together to play, just who I believe were the best ever to play their positions.
It's OK, Brian Stewart was coaching the D....Big Country;2795995 said:FLAG! Twelve men on the field...

That might be but when it WAS legal he was the best!Zaxor;2796042 said:this was a great list but I'll make my changes in no particular order...
I am taking Deion over Night Train when the clothes line tackle was outlawed night train's greatest asset was taken...he said so himself... the intimidation factor wasn't there...
I don't disagree at all, in fact I believe Henderson could have been LT before LT came into the league. He had a unique combination of size and speed that wasn't matched until Taylor came in. My problem with him is that he didn't play long enough to be considered the best ever.OLB I am taking Hollywood over Bell...had Hollywood not self destructed and played in a 3 4 I think people would be compared to him and not LT (also it is the reason LT wore #56)
Hutson put up some absolutely incredible numbers for when he was playing. My problem with him is that his best years came during WWII when a lot of players were in the service. They seem a bit inflated to me. I still rank him among the top-5 WRs of all time but I can't give him the top spot.not that big of a fan of Rice (thought he had way too many flaws in his game/lots of folks disagree but that is okay, I am comfortable in my skin)... would take Hutson over Rice and Moss over Warfield
Not only did he never have a losing season, he took his team to the championship game EVERY YEAR HE PLAYED! (They won 7 out of 10)outside of that great list...people might not realize it but I think OTTO never had a losing season
Chief;2796069 said:I was going to make a list, but it would have been almost the same as this one. Great job, Thumper.
The Mike Haynes pick at CB was right on.
I have the same receivers, backs and tight end, and the defense is pretty much the same. I really like Alan Page, though. Not really a place for him.
THUMPER;2796092 said:Thanks Chief. Great minds and all that...
So who would have been your QB? Lots to choose from there.
I loved Page as a player but with only two spots I couldn't take him over Lilly or Olsen. He is on my Ultimate All-Time Team though. I put together a team of players (60-man roster) that I thought would fit the style of football I like and he is on it. I posted it a a few years ago but have made some changes since then. After this thread peters out I will probably start a new one with that team.
Temo;2796171 said:I don't see how any WR is better than Randy Moss.
And I'd take a host of QBs over Elway (to start, Manning, Brady, Steve Young, Montana, Marino, Unitas, and others)

I agree and it's one reason I left him off. Having more time to think about it I should have considered Mel Blount. Can't have everyone on it though.
OLB I am taking Hollywood over Bell...had Hollywood not self destructed and played in a 3 4 I think people would be compared to him and not LT (also it is the reason LT wore #56)
I thought about Hollywood but he derailed his career. So did LT but even with the drugs he was still dominant. I'd still take Bell and LT.
not that big of a fan of Rice (thought he had way too many flaws in his game/lots of folks disagree but that is okay, I am comfortable in my skin)... would take Hutson over Rice and Moss over Warfield
I couldn't ignore either Warfield or Rice although Moss was more dominant early on. He just didn't do it long enough. Hutson was great for his time. So was Berry. They wouldn't cut it today.
outside of that great list...people might not realize it but I think OTTO never had a losing season
what do you mean by that? are you referring to the "he doesn't go over the middle" myth? so the wr who statistically will be the 2nd best wr of all time(if not #1) by the time he retires did that by just running go routes?dadymat;2796262 said:at what Moss does he may be the best ever..hes a beast ..but a little one dimensional ...... Rice had it all...and is THE definition of the perfect WR
I don't see how anyone could choose Moss over Irvin. What has Moss ever won?Temo;2796171 said:I don't see how any WR is better than Randy Moss.
