Best QB Of All-Time #1 Poll #1

I was lucky enough to see unitas play, though at the end of his career. But I did get a chance to see Roger, Joe, Elway and the others throughout their entire careers.Joe was the best by a small margin over Roger; I wish I could have seen Bart Star and Otto Graham in their primes. Starr was probably not that great compared to the others, but they were the major contenders.

Sorry, but lets be honest here. Joe hit the long and intermediates just as much as the short stuff; he worked the whole field. Only about one third of his passes were to the backs; he used all his receivers. Elway was too much of a gunslinger at times; same with Johnny Unitas. Joe Cool was just that.

Sure he hit the long stuff.....but you can't deny that most of his passes were the short variety. Dump offs to the RBs, crossing routes to the WRs.

That's what the WCO is and was. Short passes that would act as runs. Montana would hit the long pass, and hit it well.

I'm not saying he was a poor QB....but the best ever? No..... I won't put him in that category until people begin taking Aikman more seriously in that discussion.

Aikman did almost as much as Montana with much fewer opportunities.

Quincy Carter, baby, Quincy Carter! He's the last QB to take the Cowboys to the playoffs! Yes....

Opps....I guess that belongs to Romo now....

:laugh2:

(sorry kartr)....

I am saying that Joe did not throw short for MOST of his passes. Like I said- I watched his whole career. He hit Taylor and Rice and company with a lot of long passes- he sucked the corners in with the short stuff and then killed them long. He spread it all over the field.

I'm one of those guys that thinks Montana is overrated. Sure, he was a good QB....but he played in a WCO.....Of course his stats will be inflated.

Of the guys I watched growing up, I always thought Elway and Marino were the best as far as talent goes.

I would say Montana was overrated, but I'd take Elway over Montana. If Elway were on those 49ers teams, I think they win seven Super Bowls.

john elway was the best qb to ever play in the national football league.

I'm surprised no one has said Roger.

Unfortunately I never saw him play. I'm only going to have to go with the QB's I've actually seen play, which would be from 1988-Present.

It's hard. I do think Montana was overrated. He was a very big product of the system. He didn't have much raw talent.

Right now, I think I'll have to say John Elway.

Ask me in ten years when Peyton Manning and Tom Brady are in the Hall of Fame.

I'll second Staubach.
I wish Roger didn't have to retire after 1979, im sure he would have got a least one more ring.

The best QB I ever saw play would have to have been Montana, he didn't have the most talent, he did ok in KC so I wouldn't say he was overrated.

The most talented QB's I saw were Joe Namath, Elway and Marino. Bill Walsh always wished he could have worked with Namath, before he hurt his knees!

The most overrated QB would have to be Brett Favre, he just made too many mistakes at the wrong time.

The most underrated, for me at least would be Terry Bradshaw, no one talks about him ever but he has 4 rings, and he beat at least one damn good team to get 2 of them!

One of the most ridiculously underrated...undervalued QB's of All Time.

I agree with that, also probably the most mechanically perfect QB of all time!!!!

Geez, it's hard to say... Winning alone doesn't make the best QB. Nor do the stats of completions, rating, etc. Hmmm... I think there is just no way to single out one, so i'll give you my top 3, in no particular order: Staubach, Montana, Unitas. With the game on the line, any one of them could come in the huddle and you just KNEW they were going to score. 3 runner-ups, in no particular order: Bradshaw, Kelly, Aikman. 3 alternate runner-ups, in no particular order: Marino, Elway, Starr. And I know I'm forgetting a couple, like maybe Fouts, Favre, and Greise - in no particular order...

The best QB of All-Time IMO was Otto Graham. The guy was amazing, played in the championship game all 10 years that he played, winning 7 of them. Highest winning % of any QB, also had the most rushing TDs by a QB until Steve Young broke it.

The guy was so much better than any QB in the league when he played it was amazing and there were some great QBs around back then: Sammy Baugh, Y.A. Tittle, Norm Van Brocklin, Bob Waterfield, and Bobby Layne just to name a few.

please edit the poll to only include post WWII qb's ;)
just ribbin ya bud.
