Strictly defense, I agree. The greatest show on turf is the number one offense.85 bears and ain‘t even close.

I’ll take the Cowboys over the Steelers. In the 70s if Smith doesn’t drop the ball in the end zone.I’ll list it by greatest teams of the decades .
1. Steelers 70’s- most dominating team in my lifetime
2. Browns- 40’s & 50’s- 7 championships
2. Packers- 60’s- 5 NFL titles
3. 49ers - 80’s- 4 Rings
4. Cowboys 90’s- 1st team to win 3 out of 4 SB
5. Cowboys 70’s- 5 Super Bowls , 2 Rings and 7 champ appearances
6. Dolphins - 70’s - 3 consecutive SB’s, back to back Rings
7. Wash 80’s - 3 SB rings
8. Raiders- 70’s and early 80’s- 3 SB rings
9. 70’s Vikings and 90’s Bills best to not win a SB with both 4 SB losses
10. Patriots - Best of Cap era dominating 2 decades 2000 & 2010’s with 6 SB rings
Had he caught it and we converted the PAT the game would have been tied. However, what ultimately killed the Cowboys in that game was Randy White’s fumble on a KO that led to a Steelers TD and the phantom PI call against Benny Barnes after stopping the Steelers on third down that lead to another Steelers TD.I’ll take the Cowboys over the Steelers. In the 70s if Smith doesn’t drop the ball in the end zone.
Yep. Truthfully...the worst team in the league last year would beat the 72 Dolphins 50 to 0.If you were to pit, let’s say one of the great Packers championship teams of the 60s against any of the NFL teams today, they would have a tough time beating them, because of the size and speed of players today. Even a bad NFL team by today’s standards would have a big edge in size and speed over teams from the 60s and even the 70s. You have to judge teams by the schedule they were given and the era they played in. Any team that can have a perfect 17-0 season, including a Super Bowl win has to be ranked at the very top. There’s a number of great teams that came along after the 72 Dolphins that I believe could’ve beaten them, but none of those teams had a perfect season.
They proved on a given Sunday they could be beaten, but not the 72 Dolphins. You could only imagine the pressure they felt heading into that Super Bowl. They had lost the previous Super Bowl in a blowout, so they had to feel the pressure of the world on their shoulders, but they came through against a very tough Washington team that had destroyed the Cowboys a couple of weeks earlier. The beating Washington gave the Cowboys in the 72 NFC title game was probably the worst beating I ever saw them take in a playoff game.
I wouldn’t go that far, but they would have had a tough time against any of the NFL teams today. They ran the ball probably 75% of the time if not more. Hardly any of the players on their OL weighed more than 250 pounds. No way would they be able to run the ball today behind that line and good luck protecting a 190 pound Bob Griese in the pocket.Yep. Truthfully...the worst team in the league last year would beat the 72 Dolphins 50 to 0.
That was the first Super Bowl I attended. It was a heartbreaking loss as defending champs. But Steelers out played us. I’m not sure scoring a TD instead of a FG makes a difference with Smiths catch .I’ll take the Cowboys over the Steelers. In the 70s if Smith doesn’t drop the ball in the end zone.
You can’t really compare teams of different eras . The mark of greatness is dominating your era. And the 60’s Packers winning 5 Titles were about as dominating as any team in modern NFL history. No one has won 3 consecutive NFL championships since them.If you were to pit, let’s say one of the great Packers championship teams of the 60s against any of the NFL teams today, they would have a tough time beating them, because of the size and speed of players today. Even a bad NFL team by today’s standards would have a big edge in size and speed over teams from the 60s and even the 70s. Yea, again it’s not a realistic comparison for eras. Like our owner who was a 190 lb lineman for the 64 Nat’l champs in an all white SWC. They couldn’t have stood up to teams in the 70’s. But that was the competition in that era.Yep. Truthfully...the worst team in the league last year would beat the 72 Dolphins 50 to 0.
I wouldn't be a bit surprised if the worst team last year could also beat the 85 Bears....though it would be much closer. The offensive and defensive linemen are just completely different now. A 300 lb oLineman was a real talking point in 85, and probably almost unheard of in 72. Imagine them seeing an entire modern oLine, each guy averaging 330 lbs and 6'5 to 6'8, all of them as athletically gifted and quick as guys 100 pounds lighter were back then....walking towards their defense.
The Fridge was considered an absolute freak back then...and he was 6'2 and 310 lbs as a rookie....and he was just a big slow sloppy fatboy who'd have a heart attack if he even walked a 40 yd dash. Last year, the Eagles drafted the Georgia kid at DT (can't think of name) who was 6'6" 340 lbs or something....and he ran a 4.75 40 or something stupid like that. Imagine the 72 Dolphins seeing him walk out onto the field.
It matters when you have enough talent. It wasn’t enough for Jimmy when he didn’t have the talent or any of the greatest coaches.92/93 Cowboys teams could take on anyone, no ifs ands or Butts about it! Coaching MATTERS!
Right. And we really didn’t have an answer for their offense. They could have scored again if they needed to. Our late TD’s were prevent defense in waning moments. Game was over.Had he caught it and we converted the PAT the game would have been tied. However, what ultimately killed the Cowboys in that game was Randy White’s fumble on a KO that led to a Steelers TD and the phantom PI call against Benny Barnes after stopping the Steelers on third down that lead to another Steelers TD.
The 00 Ravens D was better, and it's not close.Strictly defense, I agree. The greatest show on turf is the number one offense.
Not sure where you got your info from about Perry, but it is grossly inaccurate. Perry was known for his extreme athleticism. He ran a 12 flat 100 meters. He was a freak of an athlete and very quick. Perry could play today and play well.Yep. Truthfully...the worst team in the league last year would beat the 72 Dolphins 50 to 0.

Now that I think back, it’s very possible you’re right. But I forgot who they played in the Super Bowl. The 00 Ravens D was better, and it's not close.
I’m jealousThat was the first Super Bowl I attended. It was a heartbreaking loss as defending champs. But Steelers out played us. I’m not sure scoring a TD instead of a FG makes a difference with Smiths catch .
The final score was deceiving. We scored two TD’s in final minutes as we were 3 scores down and game was basically over. We had no answer to stop them.
You know, I forgot all about that. Don’t get old my cowboy brother. I don’t have dementia, but I don’t remember everything exactly. I was fresh out of the military I think 1 week when they played that game. But maybe he doesn’t fumble, with a clear head and not nervous lol. And people give Romo a hard time lol. We have burned ourselves so many times it isn’t funny. We were lucky to have Ken Norton against Buffalo. Play of the game stop on the goal line.Had he caught it and we converted the PAT the game would have been tied. However, what ultimately killed the Cowboys in that game was Randy White’s fumble on a KO that led to a Steelers TD and the phantom PI call against Benny Barnes after stopping the Steelers on third down that lead to another Steelers TD.
We had a Charles Haley, that was the difference maker, and everyone knows itWith Jimmy we had the coaching and talent, we were Double Trouble!
