You know, I forgot all about that. Don’t get old my cowboy brother. I don’t have dementia, but I don’t remember everything exactly. I was fresh out of the military I think 1 week when they played that game. But maybe he doesn’t fumble, with a clear head and not nervous lol. And people give Romo a hard time lol. We have burned ourselves so many times it isn’t funny. We were lucky to have Ken Norton against Buffalo. Play of the game stop on the goal line.
One of the dumbest moves Tom Landry ever made, was having Randy White on a return team when he had a damaged hand that was all tapped up like a club. He fumbled because he couldn’t get a handle on the ball. Of all the players that KO went to it had to go to him. It had nothing to do with nerves or not having a clear head, he couldn’t get a grip on the ball. After the turnover, our defense couldn’t stop the Steelers from scoring. I think the PI on Benny Barnes deflated the team. It gave the Steelers a first down and they scored two or three plays later.

I don’t know why I thought you said Danny white. And he wasn’t even on the team. Lmao it’s too damn hot.

I believe I recall that now. That’s why I didn’t get it the first time because I was thinking Danny.

Hollywood Henderson didn’t make matters much better either.

Danny White was on the team. He was our backup QB and I believe he was our punter during that Super Bowl. Lol

Now that I think back, it’s very possible you’re right. But I forgot who they played in the Super Bowl.
The 2000 Ravens defense gave up fewer points than the 85 Bears but the Bears forced more turnovers, and had almost twice as many sacks. It was a much scarier defense to face than the Ravens. Most of the rankings have the 85 Bears is the greatest defensive all time. The 2000 Ravens are ranked number three in most rankings.

You’re obviously not grasping the points I’ve made, because you’re such a Cowboys fan you refuse to be objective. Glad you brought up the Eagles because they did have a real good defense in 92 and they destroyed the Cowboys in week four 31-7. They picked off Troy Aikman three times and sacked him four times. Our OL had no answers against their defense. By the way that defense didn’t have Jerome Brown because he was killed in a car accident three months prior to the start of that season. The 91 Eagles defense was better with Jerome Brown and Reggie White. Most have that defense ranked in the top five but still well below the 85 Bears defense. You’re too focused on the DL. You have to look at the entire 85 Bears defense. Their line backer play with Wilber Marshall was outstanding.
Buddy Ryan ranked his Eagles D above his 85 Bears D. He built both so I’ll take his word for it.

What else was he supposed to say about a team he was the head coach of? Buddy Ryan had one of the biggest egos ever. His best defenses with the Eagles were in 89 and 90 with Reggie White and Jerome Brown. Those teams went 11-5 and 10-6 and both went one and done in the playoffs. Neither defense is ranked near the top 10 all-time. None of the defenses he had were even close to the 85 Bears defense and every all-time defense ranking will prove it. The 85 Bears defense was so great it carried that team to an 18-1 record with a Super Bowl championship and has the 85 Bears ranked as the number one or number two greatest team of all-time.

I simply disagree w/ their rankings. I watched both, and I've never seen a more dominant D than the 2000 Ravens. And to win a super bowl w/ that horrid O they had was beyond amazing.

The 00 Ravens D is like the Jerry Rice of Receivers, the Michael Jordan of the NBA. It's them, and then everyone else.

Baloney. 93 Cowboys easily beat the 85 Bears. Cowboys defense was comparable and the Bears offense was mediocre. Cowboys had an offense that scores on that 85 Bears, and a defense that the mediocre offense of the 1985 Bears would have trouble putting up enough points to keep up with the output of the Cowboys offense. 93 Cowboys also had clearly better special teams.

Top all time:

93 Cowboys
84 49ers
72 Dolphins
I totally agree. I think that OL would have worn out any defense in history. Williams was the type of guy that would just get meaner. LA is chronically underrated. That guy might be the best athlete to ever play the game. I truly think that group would have made the difference vs anyone.

He is beyond any doubt the best OL to ever play the game.

Yeah he is viewed as an all time great but even then I think he is overrated. I think he is right up with the best of all time.

The 1991 Eagle defense is one of the greatest defenses ever. This is the defense Ryan referred to. My mistake, it was Kotite. Buddy felt the same for 89-90. They didn’t win because their d-line was an A+, o-line a F-

That was clearly Philly’s best defense in 91 but they only went 10-6 and they missed the playoffs. Can’t even come close to making an argument that defense was better than the 85 Bears when they lost 6 games and didn’t even make the playoffs. Most defense rankings don’t even list that defense in the top 10 but a few do. Practically all the top 10 defenses won Super Bowls. No defense was better than the 85 Bears. Their record proves it, and the rankings prove it. I have yet to locate an all-time ranking that doesn’t have the 85 Bears defense ranked number one.

I am an 80s kid and those 85 Bears were the most dominating team I had ever seen. Barely remember the 70s Steelers and really just remember how ugly and scary looking they were, lol.
However I think you are right. The 92 and 93 Cowboys teams would have been too much for that Bears team though. 4 of the 6 who started on the OL those years for the Cowboys were 300 plus pounders. The 85 Bears team only had one guy 300 plus on the starting D- Line, the FRIG. The other 3 were Stepnoski's size, and he was considered undersized in his day. The players just got so much bigger, especially in the trenches. The Cowboys teams of the 90s would have steamrolled and wore down that Bears defensive line just like they did the teams they played in 92 and 93. I agree with you that the 85 Bears offense was just ok- and the Dallas defense would have feasted on them too.

Didn't get a chance to watch the '85 bears so I can't weigh in on the debate, but I can say that the 2000 Ravens defense was the best I've ever seen.

You can make the argument, and Football Outsiders, among others, did in 2017. If the Eagles won the Super Bowl in 1991, they would probably be considered the best defense of all-time. This is Ryan's defense without Ryan, run by Bud Carson.

The Eagles had problems on offense, and that is not on the defense. Rich Kotite may be the worst coach of the past 50 years. Cunningham went down the first game for the season. The O-line sucked balls, one of the worse in the league. They played on more short fields than any team. They had to play, just in the East, the team with the best offensive DVOA (Washington), the fourth (Cowboys), and sixth (Giants) twice. Only the 2002 Bucs have had a better pass DVOA, and the 2000 Raven's a better run DVOA. Teams ran a ridiculous low 2.97 ypc. QB's only completed 44% of their passes against that team. 55 sacks, 43 forced fumbles, and 26 interceptions. That is insane. I also believe they led the league in fewest points, fewest rush yards, and fewest pass yards.
