He just put to rest immediate controversy. If the Dak wave subsides its back on.

And it could be back on if Dak loses out early in playoffs .

This QB controversy will never leave us until Romo is no longer wearing #9 for the Cowboys.

Only way he gets benched is if the team loses all confidence in him, and the offense tanks for many games.

Long time reader, first time poster. I haven't ever been a huge fan of Romo... his interception at critical times ratio is far too high. However I am a little concerned at how fast the Dak train has left the station.

This was a very very good football team with Tony behind Centre in 2014 and a crappy defence making shootouts the norm. Then 2015 was a write off because we had no back up.

This year we are again a very good (to exceptional) team with Dak.. but he has great support in Zeke AND the defence is playing way above expectations.

I love Dak but he has fumbled a couple of times, has looked shaky against Eagles and Steeler pass rush and make some very questionable throws on deep routes. Right now he is more than a pure game manager but teams are still loading the box because they don't fear the deep threat. The NFL is always looking for the 'next big thing' and I heard gushing praise for guys like RGIII, Bortles and many many more before they had actually shown the ability to get it all done.

We have won 8 straight and that is awesome but I would have liked to have seen a fully fit Romo run the off for a couple of series to get an idea on how much it is our 'system' vs 'Dakmania' before making the decision.

You don't think we'd try to pick up any draft picks for him?
It could happen. The problem with that is every FO in the league knows the Cowboy situation. They can not keep Tony as a high cost, injury proned aging back up. Other clubs will wait until after June 1st. It only sems logical. Tony has not played basically for 2 yrs and will be 37 before next season. I just dont see much trade interest in him. Its a guess...retirement seems reasonable at this point.

The only QB controversy is the imaginary one made up in this thread and others like it. There simply isn't one. The future is NOW. :starspin:

There are bad scenarios that could happen on both sides of the issue. Suppose they do what is proposed by the
OP and Romo plays well but craps out with 2 ints and a fumble in a loss to Seattle in the NFC championship? Everyone will say they should have stuck with Dak because Romo proved for 10 years he couldn't win when it mattered most. You have a QB that has won 8 in a row. You stick with that until he falters enough that it's obvious Romo should play. If Dak loses in the playoffs that will just be part of his rookie learning curve and hopefully serve him well for the future.

The unsung and overlooked beauty of Dak is that even when he is not at his best and looks shaky, he still finds a way to pull the team back together and win the game mostly because he hasnt turned the ball over multiple times and given the other team easy points so Dallas is still in the game. When Romo is not at his best, the team seldom recovers and gets blown out because Romo turns the ball over. When Dak is shaky, it's just inaccurate throws. With Romo, it's poor decisions which lead to turnovers.

This is old rhetoric. See Romo's numbers in 2014. Also who has more 4th qtr comebacks than Romo since 2006?

As long as Romo is on our roster there's hope he will return this season and if he has some success then he'll be the starter headed into next year.

This isn't a done deal yet . There's still a small chance Dak could lose the starting job.

You're setting your self up for a huge letdown.

2 of our next 3 games are against the Ravens who have 11 INTs on the year and the Vikings who have 10, they also both have a decent 22 sacks on the year, Washington is a bit more average but they are still 6th in sacks (and got 4 sacks the last time we played them). If Dak throws let's just say 3 picks over the next 2 1/2 games and we lose 1 and are losing at halftime against the Vikings, you don't think the Cowboys fans in Minnesota will start chanting for Romo which could cause Garrett to give in and do it? Heck if he throws 2 INTs next week and we are down going into the 4th quarter you don't think there might be some Romo chants in Dallas?

He will not retire. No way. Not yet, anyway.

I agree, because Jerry won't be an *** and trade him to Cleveland or San Fran, but if those were his options, I doubt he would play. He'll end up as the starting QB for a contender imo.

AFC East or Broncos would be my bet. They will want him out of the NFC otherwise Minnesota and Arizona would be in the cards.

Romo has accepted his role as the backup, Dak is excelling in his role as the starter. There is no QB controversy. End this by stop bringing it up.

The controversy will live on until Dak leads us to the promise land or Romo is gone.

Your not required to participate.

And Romo is tolerating his role not accepting it. No way he's content in his " darkest place".

Wrong, it's fans like you that have not accepted Tony and Daks roles. The controversy is over, let it go.
