where a team is ranked at time of game only matters to fans. TCU was a preseason #12 and now they've own like 3 games.
what matters is where a team is ranked at the end of the year for SOS purposes.

FSU will get clubbed to death once the SOS component is factored at season's end.
Beating Duke or VaTech does little for them.
Playing Idaho kills them.

Good team but not set up currently to come out into NCG well unless Baylor or Bama lose.
Pollsters may prefer them over Baylor but it wont matter.

I agree about the down-the-stretch SOS.. it tid not line up well for FSU. Florida is not great and the other side of the ACC is fairly JAG too. Beating a 10-2 Duke team won't help too much. Clemson seems to have righted the ship and may finish in the top 6 or 7.

But the debate right now is whether or not FSU is the best team in the country, not the 3rd or 4th best.
I have yet to hear one pollster say that Baylor could leapfrog FSU in the BCS standings if they both win out. I've heard they could get past Ohio State but not FSU.

It isn't likely that Baylor does, that is unless beating number 9 Ok St. this Saturday gives them a wind to their back, it would mean they've beaten two top ten teams in three weeks. If baylor wins out they definitely will finish no less than 3, but the challenge is will they be able to get to two.

I suspect that if Baylor prevails in Stillwater (knock on wood) that on December 7th as we close Floyd Casey Stadium against Texas, we will also be listening intently to Auburn/ Bama in hopes that Auburn upsets them.

It's shame this wasn't the year the 4 team format started becasue it's setting up real well for that.

You aren't hearing about the Baylor leap frog because most people do math one week at a time.
Baylor isn't even ahead of OSU yet.
But they'll fly past them with a win this week.

If human polls go Bama. FSU, BAY, OSU which is likely is all teams win out... Baylor and Bama will play for the NCG.
That is what the math says.

Would human pollsters notch FSU above Bama to insure them a spot? Maybe, but unlikely given who plays whom to end the season.

FSU looks really good and I am merely arguing the math here not the order of teams by quality.

End of the day there should be an 8 team playoffs AT LEAST.
Arguments for the validity and meaning fo the regular season were lost the second Bama got to avenge it's loss to LSU and win a NC without even winning it's division in conference play.

I am not sure the math clearly says that at this point. There are still too many variables. How does Clemson finish out the season? If they lose to South Carolina, then they fall. If not, they may climb a spot in the final BCS rankings, which only benefits FSU. If Bama beats Auburn, then Clemson will move up a spot if they win out.

If Baylor beats OSU, then the Cowboys fall lower in the BCS rankings. OSU and OU will also face off at the end of the season meaning one of those two teams will fall in the final BCS rankings. After that game, neither will rise that high in the final BCS rankings and won't be ranked higher than Clemson.

If Clemson is ranked #6 in the final BCS rankings, then the math will go in the favor of FSU.

And there is still the Coaches Poll, which will effect the final BCS rankings as well.

This latest round of the injury bug has me disheartened going into this uber tough game.

Tackle Spencer Drango, a phenomenal talent that may have been a future first round pick, is possibly never going to play again. He had surgery on a herniated disc this morning.

Stellar linebacker Bryce Hager is also expected out against OSU with a nagging groin strain.

Lache Seastrunk is very doubtful.

Glasco Martin is also not likely.

Tevin Reese is of course out until the bowl, but winning this game could be the difference between the Cotton Bowl and the NCG.

If Baylor loses, they can still win the Big 12 and go to a BCS bowl game.

Yeah, it was going to be a tough game anyway. OSU is good. They probably would have been this good all year if they'd had their QB situation sorted out from the start.

I'm as curious about how the weather affects everything as much as anything. Could be really cold up there. Of course Shock is still better than anything they have if you have to run it a lot.

My mentality about going into Stillwater is pretty much this:

Yup. Baylor has to survive Stillwater.

They should be OK. Really had phenomenal depth.
Now it gets tested mightily.

This should come down to the 4th quarter. OK State defense is damn good

Well so much for that...the Cowboys are taking them to the woodshed! Gundy has done a fine job there, he could be getting his 2nd Big XII title in 3 years

THANKS Baylor!!!

There goes any chance the Big 12 had at a chance to get to the National championship. Instead they go out and get their butts kicked so hard they have cleat prints on the roof of their mouths.

THANKS BAYLOR

Yeah that was an easy call. I thought OK State would win but I didn't think it would be that easy. Baylor just doesn't have the experience right now...OK State has played in a BCS bowl and they have one of the best homefield advantages. On top of all the injuries, Baylor had no chance. They should still make a good bowl game, they'll be fine

I blame OSU for losing to WVU. How the hell did that happen?

OK State looks terrible. They may choke away the Big XII title at home to an OU team having to play their 2nd/3rd string QBs. Baylor/Texas will be ready

Why even have a rule if you aren't going to enforce it? The sideline official clearly ran into a Sooner in the white portion of the sideline. That is why he threw the flag. I don't know why the ref decided that it wasn't a foul. I don't think it is a game changing call, but a penalty is a penalty.
