Leftwich was pretty bad whenever he had to fill in for Ben early in the year. He was pathetic vs Philly and Houston, and pretty bad in preseason. But most recently he had a good game against Washington going 7/10 129 yards and 1 TD. Overall, he has had 3 sacks in 24 attempts (12.4%) compared to 33 sacks in 343 attempts (9.6%) for Ben. Sandwich is only superior to Ben if our team is unprepared for a different style of play QB. If both QBs have a similar style, I don't see how its a disadvantage to us to play the backup. Its not like a risky Brett going down and a system QB like Aaron 'picking us apart.'

After Dallas' defense takes care of him, his status might really be in question next week.

Who believes this non-sense?

Didn't an injured, washed-up Marc Bulger take us to the woodshed this year? Didn't Jason Campbell school us a good one in the 1st meeting?

It's not like we'll be out of the woodworks if Leftwich starts.

1. Cause he's still limited do to injuries.

2. Leftwich is a more mobile QB which our defense struggles with.

You must not have ever seen Leftwich or Ben play.

Ben is mobile. Ever watch him? Or are you just looking at sacks? Just because he has a lot of sacks does not mean he's not mobile. The guy's escapability is actually quite impressive...

Leftwich is absolutely not mobile. Where do you even get the notion?

Anyone who's ever watched Ben play knows he's not "immobile" in the least.

I'm baffled, haha. Again, I'm one that will admit faults of the Steelers. Ben holds the ball to long quite often. His decision making is questionable, etc.

However, I'm amazed at how many people feel Ben is just some stiff of a QB. His game is largely based off of his escaping prowess.
SM...beleive me it just aint cowboy fans who feel this way,i get my info on the steelers from my brother and my dad who are lifelong steeler fans but even they dont like the guy for all the reasons that we have talked about and just read your own boards after a steeler loss when ben gets sacked muiltiple times, they say the same thing:star:

I don't understand how Ben has a reputation as immobile on these boards.

We don't all believe that. Ben's a good player. I'm looking forward to the game. Bring your A game Steelers.

Leftwich has a huge arm, but there's no doubt he's less mobile and easier to sack than Ben.

What sucks about this is is that if we win against Leftwich, the Baylesses, Tom Jackson's, Chris Collinsworth's, etc, etc will be saying how we did nothing more than beat a 1/2 strength Steelers team.

I'd rather Pitt be at FULL STRENGTH(like they are now), so that if we win, we can at least get some RESPECT in the media.

I'd rather beat them at full strength, as well, but our record vs other NFL teams, not vs the media, will determine whether we make the Playoffs.

FWIW I think most of us think he is a decent QB if giving enough time. But the fact is he gets sacked a lot due to his immobility, slow decision making process, WRs not getting open, and or the OL breaking down.

Michael Vick is likely the most mobile QB in NFL history, and he was routinely sacked 30-40+ times a season. The amount of sacks a guy takes are not a direct corelation to mobility.

Ben is more mobile than Leftwich. Hate to tell you that.

Oh and Mobile QBs we've faced this year.

McNabb
Rodgers
Campbell
Garcia
Campbell
Hill

5-1 against them with a split to Washington and Campbell.

The other 3 losses are to Eli, Bulger, and Warner who are pure pocket passers. You could argue that Eli is somewhat mobile, but it's a stretch to say he's in the same region as those 4. Maybe a step below in mobility.

I like my chances against Ben over Lefty.

Big Dumb will play. Here's the thing with him: Romo's getting alot of attention this week, deservedly so, and the focal point of the game is Dallas' offense against the #1 defense. Ben feels left out, so he created some injury in practice.

Just like the NE playoff game when he said he fractured his toe, and Cowher said it was a lie. Just like this year when he couldn't shake the MNF crew's hand becuse he said his hand was too bruised. He kept talking about the shoulder injury this year and Tomlin called him into his office to tell him "if your so injured why don't you sit out a few games."

This guy is so myopic and I hope he gets buried under the avalanche of Ware, Ratliff, Spencer etc. on Sunday.

Remember all that talk about Portis not being able to bend his knee and then all of the sudden, miraclously, he is out there running around gametime.

Ben will play.
