Big Ben's status in question..

I don't understand how Ben has a reputation as immobile on these boards.

So did Aikman and it was truth as is Ben. What's the big deal?

Oh I agree, he is far from immobile. When I think of immobile, I think of Drew Bledsoe.

Cowboys should know how mobile he is, he shook off a ton of sacks the last time we played him (2004 in Dallas), and killed us when he escaped.

Well your right if Ben's abilities don't diminish as his age increases, otherwise he is just a young Beldsoe. The guy is a statue, has a long windup, is slow in decision making, and probably makes his line look worse than they actually are.

Really? 32 sacks. All of them are not the fault of the porous OL in Pitt. IIRC he has been sacked a lot over the last few years.

Him being slower with a bum knee will not help his chances avoiding Ware and company.

It has nothing to do with his mobility. He holds on to the ball wayyy to long. Even when he escapes the pocket he still always looks for a big play down field. This leads to a lot of sacks.

is this a joke?

if not, wow

What sucks about this is is that if we win against Leftwich, the Baylesses, Tom Jackson's, Chris Collinsworth's, etc, etc will be saying how we did nothing more than beat a 1/2 strength Steelers team.

I'd rather Pitt be at FULL STRENGTH(like they are now), so that if we win, we can at least get some RESPECT in the media.

Ben can move when he needs to, and he's tough to bring down.

Last game Hobbs (Patriots) came on a blitz off the edge, no one picked him up and he got a square hit on Ben from his blindside, Ben barely moved till another player came to finish up the sack.

Who cares about the respect from the media, I want to make the playoffs, we can earn our respect there.

Ben's problem is he hangs on to the ball too long. It will cut years off his career.

I dont care about that, but for someone to say playing against Leftwich is worse for us than Roesthlisberger is laughable

Sure it does. He is strong enough to shake off arm tackles. But he does not move around and side step would be pass rushers very well. Combine that with the extra time he needs or the WRs need and you get a high amount of sacks.

+1....

Oh really... why?

And yes, Ben will play.
1. Cause he's still limited do to injuries.

2. Leftwich is a more mobile QB which our defense struggles with.

I don't recall Drew Bledsoe ever having much ability to navigate outside of the pocket.
Then you never saw a young BLEDSOE:star:

huh? Leftwich is fat and slow, and has a painfully slow release

Leftwich is more mobile than Ben?

What?

If Leftwich is more mobile than Ben... then those statue comparisons aren't far off.

I'm baffled, haha. Again, I'm one that will admit faults of the Steelers. Ben holds the ball to long quite often. His decision making is questionable, etc.

However, I'm amazed at how many people feel Ben is just some stiff of a QB. His game is largely based off of his escaping prowess.

Ben is the biggest whiner ever, every time he does bad he hold his arm,or shoulder or leg.He is also a complete tool,i met him various times,i saw him throw a glass of beer on a waitress cause she told him to chill out.he a brat and isnt all that good just was always on a good team.he is mobile some tho but seems to run in the wrong direction a lot.lol.
