InmanRoshi;5008862 said:It's nice in theory. The problem is that slots in the Ticket never open up, because they never get fired because their ratings are so good. You're also not accounting for the fact that everyone in radio basically gets paid minimum wage with no health coverage if they aren't hosting their own shows.
erod;5008871 said:Well, they could have got the night spot first, and if that went well, I could have seen a scenario where they could have taken an hour from the morning show and an hour from the Hardline, and wedged them in.
The Hardline is pretty shaky in the 3 o'clock hour (compared to the old days). Galloway has some traction there.InmanRoshi;5008880 said:They had already been working nights and weekends at the Ticket. They had hit their ceiling. The Hardline is a huge cash cow and money maker for the station, they're not going to take away their billing hours.

InmanRoshi;5008913 said:It's a weird world to live in where doing weekend gigs is having "presence", while having your own daily time slot and being on TV nightly is "fading into obscurity".
erod;5008932 said:Well, you're pretty obscure if you're on the radio talking to about 15 people on a daily basis, while on the weekend, a ton of P1s have their radios set to The Ticket by default while they're running honey-dos and going to soccer games.
Skin is not well-liked on the Mavs broadcasts by the viewers. That's why you see less and less of him on there.
jterrell;5008970 said:please dont post just silly things.
the espn ratings during the weekdays are about 5 times anything the ticket gets on weekends.
weekend sports shows are barely a blip on the radar.
only the nfl draft. cowboys pre-post game shows and actual game itself garner any ratings.

Anyone doing a show here is doing darn well.
Any thoughts of minimum wage is hilariously wrong.
Ben and Skin are still learning this business but have been doing quite well. They actually have friends at Ticket who have already stated they'd land on their feet.
The Ticket does very well in its main demographic but this thought they lap the field with sports radio is silly.
They were at a 2.4 market share for January. CBS Radio(The fan) was at 2.0, ESPN103.3 was at 1.6
Amongst all DFW stations they finished 18th, 20th and 22nd.
Keep in mind while reading the DMN stuff they have some relationship with the Ticket and spew the rosiest nonsense possible their way.
Cowherd has been tried and failed as a main product in DFW. ESPN leaving that 2 hour gap there with 4 hours of a new non-name brand show tells me they'll have another change coming shortly.
erod;5008983 said:That's not the point.
One stand in for Norm Hitzges will get more listeners than six months of weekday shows on ESPN. That's how Bob Sturm did it. Guys like Mark Followill and Corby Davidson also made their way through the background roles first.
ESPN and The Fan is the proverbial "tree falling in the forest" scenario.
ESPN is putting it's own slant on this.SDCowboy85;5008597 said:I'm surprised Nate Newton lasted this long. The guy was terrible for radio, IMO. Ben and Skin is a surprise though.
Chocolate Lab;5008594 said:Looking at at their twitter, guess they turned down ESPN's "final offer" on a new contract, but they claim they'll be back soon... Maybe on a different station or maybe with more money from ESPN, who knows.
I know this, I'll never listen to Cowherd. Don't know how anyone can stand that guy.
