Big changes at 103.3 ESPN

I used to hate Colin. Now I can't seem to turn the channel. It's either The Dan Patrick Show or The Herd. Love em both. Colin tells it like it is.

Can't stand Colin. When I was still in Houston and before they added other stations he had a time slot. People who actually had smart opinions that made his arguments moot, he hung up on and yelled at. The whole show was about him ranting and callers agreeing with him. Weasel with a complex.

I actually like Ben. I think he is alright. Skin is terrible though. He says the dumbest jokes and the people around him sound like they feel forced that they have to laugh at that.

Who thinks Skin is funny? What on earth does he bring to a radio show or broadcast?

Yeah, I hate how Skin constantly does that thing where he tells his joke and then immediately with no break goes on to the next sentence, like it's so clever to do that...

Again, there's nothing special about either of them, really, but they did have good chemistry with Ron Washington and did get good guests like lots of Rangers and Cowboys. Problem is, like theebs said with Deion, they usually get the guests by totally sucking up to them, which is pretty pathetic.

It is funny to me how every time these radio threads pop up, the Ticket fans get almost offended when others aren't fans like they are. The Ticket does have some funny bits and some good interviews like the Witten show on BAD, and Norm does still make the effort to talk sports, but I don't see how anyone listens to them all day. I've found that I can get the funny bits out of the Ticket through the podcasts or the Unticket without sitting through hours of the celebrity/Hollywood/fart joke talk every day.

I have to change the channel sometimes in the morning driving to work when Shan and RJ start talking football on "New School" on the Fan.
I think it's Shan--he always seems to look at things in a very dumb-fan cliche way. Hate it. Really irritating and I change the channel right away.

Hey I have listened to Norm since he was at KLIF on the am in the eighties. He is exactly the same now as he was back then. Only a little more biased on kickers and Buffalo as I remember. His picks of the Pol were just as worthless.

Don't really see the appeal in local sports radio. This forum lets you get your Cowboys news whenever you want and has people more knowledgeable about the team than random local sports journalists spewing out random opinions. If there isn't some kind of insight coming from a player, former player, coach, or something along those lines, the stuff I generally hear is gibberish.

I don't get the appeal of Natoinal Sports Radio. Who says "I'm just not getting enough Ray Lewis, Monti Te'o and Tim Tebow coverage. Where can I go to hear about more about these stories, because Sportscenter/PTI/Around The Horn/etc. simply aren't touching these topics enough."

Usually local beatwriters spend a lot of time around the organization and have lots of sources, so yeah, there is a lot of information you get from them that you can't hear elsewhere. Yeah, there are messageboards, and a lot of the material on the messageboards is just reporting and rehashing what the beatwriters have unearthed. I put way more credit into what a local beatwriter reports than what someone like John Clayton reports.

The Hardline is pretty shaky in the 3 o'clock hour (compared to the old days). Galloway has some traction there.

Plus, and you'll have to trust me on this, Mike Rhyner is looking for a way to back off a bit. Not retire, but just take a lesser role. Four hours is a LONG time on the radio in a day, and he's getting burnt out on it.

Ben & Skin at least had a presence in the media back then. Now, they've faded into obscurity, and Skin on TV during the Mavericks games is not doing him favors. He comes across awkward, cocky, and without a bit of chemistry with the other guys. His humor doesn't play in that setting whatsoever.

How does Galloway have traction when the Hardline OWN them in the ratings every single month?

Live chat: The Ticket's Craig Miller answers your questions at 11 a.m. Friday
Arbitron radio ratings have arrived for January:
Among all listeners for the month it was the 1310 The Ticket (2.4), The Fan 105.3 FM (2.0), ESPN-FM 103.3 (1.6).
In the high-value men 25-54 demographic, which pays most of the bills, it was The Ticket (6.2), Fan (3.6), ESPN (2.9).
In home-grown, heavy-hitter weekdays from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. among men 25-54 it was The Ticket (7.8), ESPN (3.3), Fan 3.0.
Most notably was the improvement from The Fan’s morning drive show, New School, which finished second behind the The Ticket’s Dunham & Miller but ahead of ESPN import Mike & Mike every hour from 6 to 10 a.m.
Dunham & Miller, turned in the highest rated hour of the day among men 25-54 with a 10.4 from 8-9 a.m.
The best hour at ESPN was Galloway and Company (4.6) from 5-6 p.m. The Fan’s proudest was New School (4.6) from 8-9 a.m.

Thanks.

Interesting about Greg Williams. He has already been fired from both of the other 2 stations.

I normally just listen while driving. I continuously flip between the 3 stations when the current one goes to commercial break. If all 3 are on commercial break, I just turn it off for a minute of two. Tivo has killed my ability to tolerate commercials.

I am not a fan of Ben and skin.

Having said that the fan runs the worst radio show in history out everyday from 10-2 with elf and slater. It's absolutely horrible.

Ben and skin would make perfect sense in that slot and maybe even 10-3 giving the audience less of Whitt and fisher/greggo......

Only thing is they left the fan for 103.3 because the fans management didn't like there show and didn't want them together.

Bruce Gilbert is not in charge of the fan anymore so maybe they go back there.

Adding skin to the fan would give the fan two mavericks big timers with fisher and skin. Something that station lacks.

I can't tolerate their football idiocy and gave up on Ben and skin long ago, especially since they bow down to Deion sanders.

If they end up at the fan and Ben Rogers ends up in some way as part of the cowboys game day broadcast its going to be terrible. Shaun shariff and richie Whitt are already shoved down our throat for three hours during the pregame and Marc elfenbein for the post game. It's bad enough already.
I know the Fan sucks but trust me until you've heard Austin sports radio, then you haven't heard the worst.

Yeah I know. He missed a week a couple of weeks ago and then was out with this mystery.

Where's Greggo?

:muttley:

Greggo is back! Mystery illness of some sort. Hope its not drugs again.

I actually like Greggo. The Ticket and the Hardline are not the same without him. P1 for a long time, but have switched over to the FAN as of a couple of years ago.

Greggo carries that station. Morning show is entertaining. Elf and Slater is horrible. Mike Fisher brings some knowledge when he checks in.

Gotta love Chris Arnold and Gavin Dawson at night. Gbag nation.

For me the hardline is the only show I really enjoy listening to. I couldn't listen to them with Gregg Williams. I have never understood the guy's draw.

I like Dunham and miller also, but I enjoy them more during the season.

I used to have the ticket, fox sports radio, Espn radio on all day jumping around listening for nfl news. At this point I don't care anymore honestly. It's become a reactionary pro football talk on the radio cess pool to me.

That is why I like the hardline and d&m. They are original. I listen to the hardline mostly for the music talk, I enjoy that as much or more than the nfl so it is a perfect fit at this point.

Not only does Greggo know nothing about anything, it is impossible to listen to him try to put together a cogent third-grade thought.

Worse is the lying and backstabbing and manipulation he demonstrated throughout his cocaine-binged disasterous last few months at the Ticket. Most disgusting was how he played for sympathy and used his co-hosts because of his addiction to pain killers. His issues were actually far worse.
