I wouldnt pay Allen...I would let him walk to a division rival and draft.
Sound logic.
Sound logic.
Dallas problem was not extending Dak earlier. It's very simple. There are only two active QB's in the entire league that has played for the same team longer then Dak. Deck Carr for the Raiders whose team owner is just as bad as Jerry and Aaron Rodgers who is probably thinking right about now he should of called it last year. Signing a QB to a second contract (no matter what the dollar amount is) is foolish unless he is a proven winner in the post season before his first contract runs out. Dak will probably be here another 3-5 years because Jerry is to stupid to do anything else so expect nothing to change. Who knows maybe over the life of Daks contract we might win one more playoff game but that's his ceiling.
Remember there's also an $89M dead cap hit. Even knowing this some of his critics are still saying trade or cut him after the season and take the hit
A forced trade or restructure is about it, I can't see Dallas taking that cap hit next season, or in 2024.You can’t and shouldn’t force a pick at any position, ever. That gets you Taco, T. Hill, and a rapping corner. Just say no to forced picks.
Likewise a team should never pass on talent, even if you have an established starter in front of a guy who has talent that you want to draft. A good example of drafting for talent, not need, got the Packers Rodgers when Favre was already on the roster.
If there is a QB that the team has evaluated as being potentially better than Dak and a franchise QB, then you pull the trigger and draft him even if it’s in the first round if he is appropriately rated on your board. If that’s how you draft board stacks up you pull the trigger.
Then you bring that guy into camp and you develop him and give him every opportunity to win the job outright. If he outperforms Dak then you put your $40m QB on the bench or trade him, if it makes cap sense to do so.
Then they’re complete idiots, which shouldn’t surprise many.I don't believe that is how the Cowboys feel about Dak. Clearly there are those who disagree. Cowboys signed the deal knowing full well they would be restructuring it.
Cry more. You shouldnt watch the NFL
Dallas problem was not extending Dak earlier.
They wanted to wait and see something, and the look cost them a fortune.
Had they extended him earlier it could have been as low as 25 a mil they were paying.
Look around the league. No one wants to watch football with you lack a QB. And there are not that many in the league.
Dak is a legit top half the league starter by even the harshest of critics and people can cry about salary but that is on the Cowboys FO.
Then they’re complete idiots, which shouldn’t surprise many.
Tell us you don’t understand contracts without telling usHilarious that his cap hit is higher than Mahomes and Allen. Best thing to do is draft a QB in the incoming draft and let the rookie cook and develop, similar to Mahomes while Alex Smith was still the starter, while Prescott continues to stink it up until his contract expires. Hopefully we can keep a SB window open for that long….
There definitely appears to be a changing if the guard in terms of the team’s strengths. As a fan, it’s frustrating to watch one unit improve while the other struggles. The team can never seem to get both units to be strong in unison anymore.
The defense has taken a step forward and the offense a step back. Unless Dak and the offense start to ‘catch up’, the financial investments SHOULD BE on defense going forward.
It’s a results business.
This is wrong. Rogers cap hit next year is 59,515,000. That’s actually from that site.
Exactly, my first reaction was the Colts and the Browns are screwed. More the Colts cuz they just benched a whole bunch of dead money. I may be in the minority here but I don't think Deshaun Watson is worth it. What was Cleveland thinking? That much guaranteed money. That's a really bad contract. At least we aren't Cleveland![]()
Lets see what Cleveland looks like after Watson starts playing. IM thinking they might be a little better. At least we aren't Cleveland![]()
I'll put it this way .........if you can find me a rookie QB that can guarantee me a better record than 12-5 last season.......let's talk. I say guarantee coz Dak has done it. In other words, we know what we have with Dak, but drafting a rookie?
Mahomes is getting 45 million until the QBs above him in salary becomes too much. Then Mahomes will walk into the GMs office and let him know it is time to give him a new deal to pay him up at the top again. Mahomes dictates what he wants, and the Chiefs will comply.Remember, Mahomes has a 10 year deal, Dak's is effectively 4 years. With a CAP friendly first year, and a restructure in the 2nd, Dak's CAP impact next year and in 2024 are unavoidable, unless they extend him again. The Worst part of Dak's contract is the term. If he was getting $40 million for 10 years even I would not complain about his deal. Mahomes is getting $45 million for 10 years.

I can promise you that cap number for 2023 will be restructured
