and if we don't get a shot... it doesn't mean we haven't made it to the big game, if you get my drift.

That would actually be the best case scenario..................win the NFC and have somebody upset Denver in the AFC............much easier to beat New England or Indy than Denver.

honestly, if we continue to go far, I'm not frightened, or want to avoid anyone... want to beat the best. like they say in boxing... styles make fights....
running ball control don't look flashy, but it wins when necessary. My concern is how much better can the defense be.

I just think it is a little premature to start comparing ourselves to the Broncos.

I still think that this team needs keep their nose to the grindstone. That appears to work.

I believe that Garrett will have the team doing just that. If there is one thing that Garrett excels at it's the mental state of the team.

Still though, as fans it can be fun to speculate.

Peyton Manning is the biggest difference. If both teams agreed to not play their starting QB, the Cowboys would be helped greatly.

No. Osweiler is going to be a decent QB in this league. Weeden over Osweiler? Really?

This is true. Lots of unstoppable offenses have flamed out and not won a Superbowl.

Most recently the 1998 Vikings, 2007 Patriots, and 2011 Packers come to mind.

And the 2013 Broncos. If we play the Broncos, the key to beating them is to make them play our game, which is ball control. We run the ball. We win time of possession. Manning stands on the sidelines for the better part of the game, getting cold. Our defense rests and doesn't wear out. Our defense gets turnovers. If we play then like that, we win. If we play Mannings game, which is pass happy shoot-out, we lose. We nearly beat them at their own game last year, but you just don't beat Peyton Manning at his own game. Force him to play your game. That's what the Seahawks did.

Of course, if we end up talking about this for real, that's awesome because it means we're in the Super Bowl. Of course I'm not going to count my hatchlings before they've chickened. The Super Bowl is a long ways away and a lot of football has to be played to determine who's in it. Neither team might be in it. Or it could be the Broncos versus the Eagles in which case I'll be screaming for Manning and team to win.

Denver almost looks unstoppable right now. They're not just winning games, they're blowing teams out. Manning is on pace to break his own records he set last year, and their defense is finally healthy and is much improved from last season as well.

Because their last 2 games were against backup CB's on the other team. That helps.

You start a lot of threads. Just an observation.

You make a lot of observations. Just a... thread of letters bunched together to form a sentence.

Sorry, I'm in a weird mood right now.

the league has changed, its a passing league.... but guts and toughness is the end all... (not criticizing manning, who is great)

The Broncos are scoring more touchdowns but they're also punting A LOT more -- they're fourth-worst in possessions ending in punts and second-worst in going three-and-out. The Broncos' offense has been boom-or-bust -- they fizzle quickly a lot, but if they start driving and get inside the 40, they're probably going to score a touchdown. The net effect, however, is slightly fewer points per possession than we've scored.

It's not like we're struggling to score, you know. We're No. 2 in the league in points per possession, we have the third-highest TD percentage in the league, and we're seventh in red-zone TD percentage.

Biggest difference between us is honestly the referees.

Denver benefits off of some REALLY good calls in crucial game moments.

Dallas is consistently on the short end of the stick when it comes to these calls. Particularly the amount of blown calls or whistle blowings that happen that take off defensive scores. We have had 4-5 calls that could of been game altering not go in our favor.

Denver is still a good team however do not get me wrong.

dallas plays the field position game now.... and i appreciate it... and our fg kicker appreciates it.... just wish we had a punter that appreciated it.:(

While I'm usually not one to buy into conspiracy theories, I get the feeling that the NFL really wants to see Peyton win another ring.

I would agree with this.... he's the biggest star they have, and a feel good story.
one of the few players the average person recognizes without a helmut.
