This thread can be any player in the league but of course Cowboys players take preference.

Who is the biggest surprise, in terms of production or lack of?

Leary is my candidate, I thought this guy was going to wash out when we signed him as a UDFA, who also got the biggest signing bonus that year too I believe. I just remember how his degenerative knee condition was also the topic brought up with him. It's nice to see he's actually a solid guard that 31 teams passed on.

Sterling Moore. He looks like a veteran starter.

Isn't he? Lot of people forget about his stint with the Patriots and his infamous pass defended in the Ravens playoff game. That being said, he has really stepped up big time here.

Surprise in good way: Beasley - this guy is a first down machine and extremely surehanded, Rolando McClain - when healthy is an absolute beast, Bruce Carter - seemed to have turned the corner as well.

Surprise in bad way: the minimal use of Randle and Dunbar, the minimal production of Street and Escobar...

Carter
McClain
Moore
Leary

I guess u could add romo and DeMarco as well... who would have thought DeMarco would be having an MVP like season, and Romo would have been able to juke JJ Watt like he was a school yard kid...

He's a veteran, but not a veteran starter. He had only started 3 games before this season.

Defense as a whole. To answer the OP I'd say one of the interior OL....you pick one. Fred's pass protection has improved each game. Martin is not playing like a rookie. And Leary is also playing over his experience level. Crawford on D.

I'd give Wilcox, Ro, Carter, Mincey, Selvie, and Randle a high five.

James Hanna. I thought he was a cut candidate going into camp. He's a helluva blocker all of a sudden and very good at special teams.

Escobar, complete non factor and frankly and huge bust right now.

Is it Escobar's fault he isn't being used by Garrett and Linehan? Escobar has talent. He is far from a bust. It is hard to get playing time from Witten. No need to hate the player just because you don't like the round he was chosen in.

McClain is the obvious pick so I'll go with the next biggest surprise:

Crawford.

The legend of Tyrone Crawford was growing in the off-season but I thought this was just another Matt Johnson hype job.

I didn't expect him to be causing the type of havoc he is this early. He's giving us 2013 Jason Hatcher like disruption.

Interior pass rushers are very hard to find, and we may have two of the better ones in the league if Melton can ever get healthy.

Any linebacker playing for us right now

McClain, carter, Durant....

I was expecting piss poor performances but we've been getting a over average play which is truly great
