So many players, it's a toss up in a way. I'll go with Carter. I knew he could play this way, we all seen it before. But could he get back to it. And he did.

For the coaching staff, Linehan. We didn't know how all this was going to work out, play calling, run / pass balance, would he run it and not be pass happy.
Well, I think he is a big pleasant surprise.

I think Moore's played well enough for us to dump Carr's contract.

But my biggest surprise has been Carter.

You and I have a similar list. Leary played well last year, I didn't expect him to regress. One of Jerry's best signings. Rolando McClain's issues were never on the field. He can play. Scandrick has been a good corner for several seasons. Crawford is doing what other players said he was capable of. Durant is playing better than ever, so he would be another candidate.

Mincey has been our best DL and best pass rusher....he is getting held all the time and I don't know why it isn't getting called. It is a surprise because there were times in training camp where Broaddus and others were reporting that he didn't look good, especially on the outside...that he might be better suited inside.

Disappointment to me has been Terrell McClain and to be honest, Henry Melton. McClain has not shown much at all and I think Melton just needs more reps and continuing to get healthy.

Terrell McClain just hasn't recovered from that high ankle sprain. No explosion. They should shut him down until he gets it back.

FWIW I believe Leary has/had a degenerative knee problem that bumped him down from what was approximately a 3rd round grade.

Leary has something in his knee that might be a problem, he also might play 10 year without issue. Amazing no one even used a 7th rounder on him. Paralysis by overanalysis.

He manhandled Watt to the point the Texans moved him out to take his chances against Smith.
