Carroll alone makes that statement questionable.

He is a step down from even the mediocre play of Carr and Claiborne.

He's going to frustrate the crud out of you. Prepare thyself.

Oh I know you dislike Carroll.

I rate him higher.

I think he's as good as Carr.

Scandrick, Carroll, and Brown. Those are the corners we'll have against the Giants for sure.

If Lewis and Awuzie can't play, then what? Are we going to run out Duke Thomas and Marquez White against the Giants?

Even if a nugget comes from the upcoming waiver wire, will that player be ready to play in a week?

If Beckham heals in time for Week 1, how are the Cowboys going to holdup against Beckham, Shepard, Marshall, and Engram with no pass rush and these corners?
I think were going to need to come out +2 in the turnover battle to beat the giants. Not sure were they going to come from but we'll need some help with # of offensive possessions.

To be fair, our passrush most likely wouldn't matter if we had 4 Pro Bowlers up front; the Giants rely on short drops and quick passing to negate what they lose by having a subpar offensive line. Their run game is a joke, so I don't see them establishing anything there. As a result, and as usual, they will be one-dimensional and I don't see them scoring more than 17 points on the Cowboys.

The problem now and the problem last year was not the Giants offense; it's their defense and the question of rather or not our offense can score more than 17 points. Because if the Cowboys can get to the magical number of 21, in my opinion, the Cowboys win. I don't care who the Giants added at receiver or TE, if they can't get open in under 3 seconds, it won't matter. If the players in question (e.g. wr, rb, te) can't create in space, it won't matter. Granted, OBJ can create in space, but since he's the only one, I suspect the Cowboys will keep him boxed in...if he does in fact play, which I believe he will.

Wait. You think the Cowboys defense is roughly as good as the Giants defense?

Overall yep.

The Giant secondary is pretty good vs. the pass. Better at this point than the unproven Cowboys secondary.

I think the Cowboy defense is better vs. the run.

And the Giant defensive line isn't that good at rushing the passer. They had fewer sacks last year than the Cowboys.

The good news is, Awuzie can play. Said he could have gone the past two weeks but the trainers are playing it safe.

Duke Thomas is hurt and won't be able to go even if he were to make the team. As for our top three, it's a little troubling, I agree. That game against the Giants looks like it's going to be a shootout. But Scandrick, Brown, and Carroll aren't much different than what we had out there last year. Mo Claiborne was our best corner in 2016 and he missed over half the season.
I don't see a shoot out at all. See last year. I suspect more of the same. Granted, they added receivers and a TE in the draft, but they still have done nothing to fix their offensive line.

That said, our offense will likely also struggle against their defense. As such, I see a low scoring affair. As I said before, if the Cowboys can score 21 points on that defense, I think the Cowboys win.

Holy... you are so cogent. Damn you, I'm jealous. Time to watch something goofy, like Mothra, to get my mind off of how you are smarter than me on the subject of football. You and @FuzzyLumpkins . Hate and love you both.

White has been OK, IMO. Put him on bigger WRs and keep him away from the Cole Beasley types and he'll be OK.

I don't see a shoot-out either. Dallas will take away the deep pass and will allow the underneath completion forcing the Giants to have to move down the field in more time-consuming drives.

not sure if serious or that big of a homer
Mike is not a homer... this is an interesting comment from him. I'd like to see him expound upon this subject, but that might be for a thread he should start.

That exactly. Bend don't break...force them to bring a field goal to a touchdown fight, if it comes to it.

Last year Giants were 2nd overall, with 1.43 defensive points/drive surrendered. Dallas was 13th, at 1.89.

Both teams got to play Wentz twice, so that wasn't a consideration.

Well... What do you want?

You can't have stars at every position.
Sorry I don't mean to be a sarcastic punk. Your right we can't have greatness at every position but I just despised watching receivers out muscle Carr over the last few years. He had flashes of goodness but they were few and far IMO. Carroll needs confidence and haven't seen that since he hit the NFL.. Just don't want to see Eli get confident and have his way with us. He'll probably have at lease 45 attempts in this game and if we can make him hold the ball a little longer then norm we can rattle him..

Shootout? Lol the Giants can't even score in preseason. How many TD's do they have? Their fortunate that the defense scores points for them. They were brutal last year on offense at that will continue this year.
