Biggest issue right now

Last year Giants were 2nd overall, with 1.43 defensive points/drive surrendered. Dallas was 13th, at 1.89.

Both teams got to play Wentz twice, so that wasn't a consideration.

True.

And I think Dallas is going to improve on last year's ranking.

not sure if serious or that big of a homer

I think the Giants are better vs. the pass.

The Cowboys are better vs. the run.

But to think the Giant D-line is some formidable group... Look up where they ranked last year in terms of sacks.

Great discussion. Please keep going.

They have their 3 projected starters at CB available and the 1st CB they drafted of the 3 is coming back to practice this week. Their 6th round CB has been good enough to make the team.

The only real issue is 3rd round pick Lewis and they probably didn't intend for him to be an immediate contributor when they drafted him. Most 3rd round picks aren't.

Maybe... sure would have liked to see them go against some competitive bodies this preseason. My main issue with so many young players and new guys being fit into the starting lineup is communication.
I remember from basketball, you have to talk and know what's happening to help your mate out. I don't think this team is going to have that through the first, at least, half of the season.

Jaylon might be at his best on a straight blitz. Have we seen him do that at all, this preseason?
Wouldn't surprise me if we haven't and they're going to throw his athleticism at the Giants on week 1 on things they haven't seen him do at all.
......some tape from Notre Dame show him unreal on the blitz.......Eli not all that mobile, give them a taste of their own medicine from last year.........

They try to offset O-Line problems with 3 step drops and separation from Shepard & Odell....Would love to Irving Height/ arms inside.

hope Garrett Lineham have a answer to the Giants S blitz's......Rico up the seam would've been effective for sure.

Yes, I notice a pick play that the Raiders ran with Scandrick and Carroll on the same side of the formation. With better communication they might have prevented a 1st down. It was not a huge issue but I think it's something that will be better later in the season than it will be early.

We will hope that this will be a well oiled machine by the post-season, but I'm not going to count on it and watch how the season unfolds to go further.
Like I know you will also. We'll be there buddy. Watching the bodies mount as the games go on and judge upon the corpses.

Hopefully the corpses belong to the opponents.

It might have been fun to live in the days of Roman Gladiators where there actually were corpses after the competition...

I doubt if anybody took plays off back then.

Most advanced stats say the Giants were better at just about everything. Football Outsiders even had their run defense better than ours, by a small margin.

And our posts will reflect accordingly. Here we go buddy! The season beckons... and it beckons for us.

Understood.

And that was last season.

This is a new year!

Good Luck... ******!

I just do not seeing this being a "sieve" defense.

I think the talent on the defensive line is superior to last season.

I think the talent at LB is superior to last season.

The secondary? Unproven. And it will get ugly on occasion due to the lack of experience. But it was not a secondary full of talent last year.

Ugly upon occasion is enough for a pro team to Kill Kill Kill.
I will hope that doesn't happen.

They were ugly last year on occasion.

It happens in this NFL because it's a passing-high scoring league.
