I thought Jerry Jones would age gracefully.

I'm kidding, no one thought that. I posted this a week or so ago - I went to the second training camp Romo was at and posted on a forum that he didn't have any standout skills and I didn't see what the coaches saw in him.

Thought Joe Randle would be a solid starter for us.

+1 on Roy Williams trade and was excited when we took Mo.

On the flip side I was jumping up and down when we took Dez. I know some weren't happy.

Also was happy with the Fredrick pick while everyone was bashing it.

I thought Drew Henson was going to be our next Franchise QB (maybe i was just desperate for a decent QB), I got really excited when he was lighting up NFLEurope. Then I really got excited when he entered mid NFL season and did work for a half... then the following week happened....yah.

I liked Merriman over Ware too (prior to draft).

I thought Bruce Carter was going to be a player. All the tools except one. THE ONE.

Quincy Carter, even bought his jersey........fell for Henson to, it was 2004 we played the Ravens and he led a TD drive at the end of the game, I exclaimed out loud to the whole bar I was at, "Thats our new QB!" lol.......

Ok. Got quite a few that come to mind beyond the great ones already shared.

Thinking that once Terry Glenn returned from injury we'd have the most dominant offense in the league (with TO and Crayton rounding out the WR core and Witten in his prime).

Thinking that every back we brought in to "spell Emmitt" as a change of pace was a great pickup (e.g., Lassick, Coleman, Curvin Richards, etc.). None of those dudes amounted to jack squat.

Allowing myself to think for a moment that we should stick with Steve Peuller and take Tony Mandarich with the first overall pick instead of Troy (yeah - I was listening to Drew Pearson spew that nonsense back in 89).

Thinking that Eric bjorson would make us forget about jay novacek.

And finally - thinking that the team of the 90s would win at least 5 Super Bowls in the decade after the first one. Alas.

Great topic!

Yeah Quincy Carter won against Jeff Garcia's 11 win 49ers his rookie year and I thought he could play.

I never really bought into Henson and Hutchinson. I though Anthony Wright was better than those scrubs.

Thinking we would still win 10 or so games after we lost Romo in week 2!

Wow - how soon we all forget all the Romo bashing in here early in his career.

So many fans were wrong about him but now, thankfully, we're down to a handful who simply refuse to admit his talent or just don't like him personally. Last year was the nail in the coffin for anyone who doubted he was the problem in the those "defenseless" 8-8 years.

I suppose we better all get ready soon for the next debate to begin as to whether the next guy can play or not.

That was actually true. Switzer winning a SB wasn't enough proof for you?

Switzer??? come-on now. Watch the NFL films story of the Cowboys that year. One of the coaches admits that they won the SB in spite of the coaching that year, not because of it. Make no mistake, that was still Jimmy's team. Switzer was bumbling drunk.....

Being so happy that we singed the next franchise QB...Drew Henson. Predicting 1600 yards from Roy Williams was a nice one too. Most recently, allowing myself to believe we had turned a corner after 2014....

That's what he's saying. Go back and read the OP and then his reply.
