I thought Timmy Newsome would be an all-time great for Dallas. Seriously.

More recently, I thought Dez would be a complete waste of a pick. Glad to be wrong on that.

Thinking Quincy Carter was a good QB... to be fair I still think he could have developed into one... if he had a brain

The first that comes to my mind is thinking Antonio Bryant was going to be a really good WR. I still think he had the skills but he was a hothead.........

Bill Parcells thinks Carter could have developed into a good QB. I think he's right. Carter demonstrated good mechanics, but lousy maturity. Case in point: He felt threatened by the signing of Vinny Testaverde. Testaverde was brought in during the twilight of his career, obviously as a backup. There's no way he could have been seen as a long-term solution. The fact that Carter didn't have the fortitude to handle that shows how weak-minded he was.

There was also this little drug issue he was dealing with.

Yes, his drug issue was a symptom of his weak character. Carter had enough athleticism to maybe have been a very good starting quarterback if he had his head together. But he didn't.

Didn't Wright score the fastest TD in the history of the league? Taking an on-side kick from Philly on the first play in the game for a TD?

No, that was a dude named Randall Williams. He was really fast like Wright and I believe that's the only notable play in Randall Williams' career.

My mistakes in chronological order or close to chronological order.
95 2nd rd RB Williams, can't recall 1st name
Stepfret Williams
Macey Brooks
Solomon Page
David Lefleur
Greg Ellis, good but I expected great.
Quincy Carter
Drew Hensen
Romo, I thought he was just a camp arm
Jacobs
Sam Hurd- T.O. liked him so I did
Joseph Randle
Thinking we could just plug any rb into our system and he'd get 1300 yards just because of the line.

When it comes to a player, pick, trade, etc. what is your biggest wiff?

I'll start. There was a time in 1990-91 where I thought Steve Walsh was going to be better than Troy. Oops. That was a bad one.

When I thought Quincy Carter was going to save us. But I was a kid and didn't know any better

I do remember being disappointed when they selected Emmit Smith in the draft and adversely thought the trade for Claborne was a great move. Man I couldn't have been more wrong on both accounts.

I have a few.. I thought Quincy Carter was the next Mike Vick, what Vick was at that time. I thought Julius Jones was going to be the next Cowboy great, I thought Henson was better than Romo, thought Roy Williams would pan out, the WR. And yes, I was so excited when we moved up #6 to take what I thought was the best defensive player in that draft.
