Is anyone upset that a website dedicated to covering the Cowboys would publish the Cowboys draft board? Anyone could've done it, but I'm surprised they would. It's obviously an attempt to get more publicity for their site but it's had the opposite effect on me. Just wondering if anyone else felt the same way.

Yes.

I have regretted putting the picture up of the draft board when I did it.

It's like, just because u have a naked picture of your wife doesn't mean u have to post it on the Internet.

No, not at all. They did what good reporters do.

Think about the stupidity of Jerry doing an interview and allowing pictures to be taken while he was standing right in front of it.

That's where your ire should be aimed.

I found it fascinating to study, but I should not have had that opportunity.

If nothing else, it's just unprofessional to let your opinion of players, good and bad, be known to them. Some things are better left unsaid, or unpublicized.

I am sure whatever free access they had until now, will be restricted and monitored carefully since the news made up to ESPN and embarassed JJ or whoever is responsible for protecting this information at the national level

I would had it happened ahead of the draft but I don't see the big deal after the fact. There is nothing gained by anyone after the draft is over and we made our selection both in the draft and UDFA market.

Blogging the boys is dedicated to providing info for fan interest. Jerry made the continuing mistake of mouthing and glad handing in inopportune places. It's Jerry's fault and he thinks it's no big issue.:laugh2:

Same here I'm waiting to see why it is an issue one way or the other? It has no bearing on future draft and clearly has not effect on past drafts so what was lost or gained by this? Nothing

I'm glad they did it because I thought it was really interesting.

It seems counterintuitive that something that had so much value at one point so recently isn't valuable now, but, for the life of me, I can't think of good reasons to get excited about our thought processes getting leaked. I guess it's possible another team can look at what we're doing and learn something from it, or that our college grades on a player can be used by agents or other teams in negotiating contracts or trades down the line, but we pretty much already publicly revealed how we had our top three picks rated, anyway. This just confirmed they were telling the truth.

Just think what a story it'd have been if we'd said something else about our rankings, and then the board leaked? *That* would have been a story.

Same. There are things to complain about with this team, but this isn't one of them. Who cares. The board looked pretty solid to me, so what's to be embarrassed about?

If Jerry is daft enough to do a filmed interview right in front of it, then I say have at it!

This is of course the second time in three years.

I dont understand your premise. If anything BTB came up a few notches IMO. BTW I think BTB along with Vela's sight do a consistently good job of accurately covering the team.

Anyone who believes its anything but another way to get the Cowboys in the news by Jerry is just crazy. Jerry knew it would generate articles, comments, interest and most likely a variety of other things.

Does revealing it make a difference. Not in any way especially since the draft is done and over. All it does is allow sportswriters to comment either positive or negative toward the Cowboys but does Jerry care. Heck NO! It puts the Cowboys in the news. It keeps the blood pumping or boiling depending on your point of view.

It allows writers like Gooselin to further go after Jerry and Cowboys far not taking Floyd with his " you never go wrong by sticking to your draft board" of which I say really, so the Chargers stuck to their draft board and took Ryan Leaf instead of listening to the coaches back then, how did that work out. And the same is true for all 32 teams.

It allows fans to rant and rave about what should have been, yep I should have bought that Microsoft stock at $1 a share but hey I didn't.

I am a fan of the Cowboys, plain and simple, hurts when they lose, feels great when they win, sometimes think their draft is good, sometimes not but the fact is we don't know anything about the draftees until the season starts and we see how we do.

Jerry is always gonna try to keep the Cowboys in the news, just is just the facts whether BTB puts up the draft board or not, someone would have. Just makes for some interesting reading. How does it affect the Cowboys, it doesn't not one bit but the fans and writers is a different story.

I doubt you will care about my opinion on this, but you have nothing at all to regret for that, nor should BTB for this one. It didn't change one thing for any of the other 31 teams. It didn't hurt the team. All it did was interest your fellow fans. I happen to think the BTB articles are outstanding. The Draft was done. Where is the harm? If anything it gave all of us some confidence that or the most part they followed their board and a defined strategy. I like that.

He has been filmed in front of it for years.

The cowboys in house production crew blue star media has been filming in the war room for years.

in 08 I put a picture up from the blitz with it visible...then again in 10.

If I never bothered to do that no one else would have ever been on the lookout for it. Now every year people are looking everywhere for pictures from the war room.

I have the draft specials from most years staring in 06 and up. There are shots of it during those years also.

In 2012 they blurred the backgrounds of the draft board in the war room. I don't think they did this year for whatever reason.

I wish I had never started this nonsense. So as u see its not really the second time in three years, nobody is remembering 08 and the fact that they have basically stood in the war room and filmed and used it for the blitz draft special for going on close to ten years.

I understand and your right about the whole thing.

It's just for me, it feels wrong to have done that.

I don't feel like in any way fans are reporters or journalists and definitely not uncovering any news.

When the first board was put up in pieces in 08 thanks to everyone here dissecting the image I was told by someone that works for blue star media that no one cared and they thought it was funny.

I don't think that was the case in 2010 though. I think people cared. Even though I gave that image to Rafael vela almost a year later not right after.

It just feels wrong for me, jmo, I have regretted it for awhile.

Kind of like the time I relayed brad shams comments during that 09 season verbatim and he came here to defend himself and was kind of ticked off. That sucked too.

You're a good dude, theebs. I don't agree that you have anything to feel bad about, but it's cool that you take a personal stance on it.

Now, throwing Brad Sham, of all people, under the bus....that was inhuman. :)

Yea I know, your right about that also.

My intent was hey this is interesting everyone look at this.
it turned into mike florio and people of his ilk saying hey look how dumb these guys are!

The last thing I ever want is to do anything to contribute to sites like that.
