“@MrrRobitaille: @BryanBroaddus Why is the leaked draft board such a big deal?” Because scouts work to protect that board. It's their life.

Verdict;5095966 said:That doesn't make much sense after the fact. If it truly is a "trade secret" don't allow cameras in the war room and make everyone sign contracts prohibiting the disclosure of the information. If the Cowboys wanted to keep this information private they would have done so. I think they were OK with leaking this info to validate their assertions that the players drafted were high on their draft board and to help in fading all the heat for the trade down.
Also, why would the scouts be aggravated because this particular draft board was leaked? The fact it was leaked after the fact puts their work product on display ... and if Floyd becomes a world beater then their work is validated to the rest of the NFL,.... even if the Cowboys chose to go a different direction.
While there are some negatives to leaking the board after the fact (none of which are earth shattering) there are also some positives to leaking the draft board. The scouts can't hide behind the facade that "We valued player X high, but Jerry Jones wouldn't listen and just did what he wanted to do" if and when they are looking for their next gig. It might just make them work HARDER for the Cowboys because they know their evaluation "misses" are going to be on display for all to see.
Jerry is crazy ...."like a fox" at times.

My intent was hey this is interesting everyone look at this.
it turned into mike florio and people of his ilk saying hey look how dumb these guys are!
The last thing I ever want is to do anything to contribute to sites like that.

It didn't change one thing for any of the other 31 teams. It didn't hurt the team. All it did was interest your fellow fans. I happen to think the BTB articles are outstanding. The Draft was done. Where is the harm? If anything it gave all of us some confidence that or the most part they followed their board and a defined strategy. I like that.

It's obviously an attempt to get more publicity for their site but it's had the opposite effect on me. Just wondering if anyone else felt the same way.

“I’m a little hard-pressed to see where the issue is at all after the draft is over,” Jones said. “We don’t put anything up there that’s particularly sensitive. Those are the opinions and the work of our scouts. The fact that there might have been a player up there a round earlier or a round later than it is on a lot of other people’s boards or opinion doesn’t impact us. I don’t see the negative aspect of that information. We won’t make it a practice of publishing it but still, I don’t think it’s an important detail.”

Doomsday101;5096099 said:Yet what is gained or lost by the board being seen after the draft and after UDFA were signed? Draft board leading up to the draft sure that should be top secret after the draft it has no use to anyone
Is there anyone that thinks this was leaked on purpose to back what They said about the great draft they had by getting all these players that they had high grades on.AmberBeer;5096103 said:Read post #29.
Yet nobody has given a valid reason that it is a problem.AmberBeer;5096096 said:Pretty much seals the deal. Jerry said it doesn't matter and when it comes to GM duties, Jerry's almost always wrong.

I did. I didn't hear a valid reason that it is detrimental to the team.AmberBeer;5096126 said:Bryan Broaddaus did. Listen to yesterdays "Talkin Cowboys".

What did you take from the Broaddus video?

AmberBeer;5095997 said:It does matter that this information was leaked. Listen to yesterdays "Talkin Cowboys" to wha t Bryan B. says about not only the leaked draft board, but having cameras and non-football people in the draft room on draft day. The draft is the #1 best vehicle to build a football team. The professionals there need to be concentrating on drafting the best player for their team. Having cameras and non-football people loitering around is a huge distraction. How many other teams have cameras in their draft war rooms on draft day? Not many. Surely not teams the likes of the Patriots, Packers and Steelers.
Another possible disadvantage of having your board made public is the players that were, at least in their eyes, rated low. It may give them extra incentive to play harder against their perceived slight.
I think that exposing the board did nothing but bring embarrassment against the Cowboy organization and BTB's should forgo the publicity and keep it to themselves. It's just the wrong thing to do. It did nothing for Cowboy fans as we were told post draft how their picks fell on their board.
