Bobby Carpenter Interview - 4/16/08 w/recap

I am sorry, but calling people flakes for being dissapointed in the Carpenter pick/player is also very extreme. I am not one to be down on the player themselves for not playing up to the position they are drafted - a lot of times that is not their fault - it is just where they were picked - they can't do anything about that.

But to say fans are flakes for having an issue with the 16th pick not playing substantive downs in 2 seasons is well.......... flakey!!! You should not have to be implementing the 3 year rule for a 1st round draft choice.

I hope he truns the corner - nothing against him at all - but it is not promising at this point!

What is Bobby supposed to do to get more playing time? Get 8 sacks and 5 interceptions in preseason? Wade can go off of what he sees in practice all he wants to but come gameday the 2 people playing ahead of Carpenter are horrible. Its on Wade to put Carpenter in the game the same way it was on Parcells to put Romo in the game.

We shall see.

I haven't given up on him. He has the athleticism and speed that Wade likes from his LBers. Bradie and Zach are expected to start.... I hope Carpenter can push for some time too.

How can people not grasp that if the players ahead of him were "horrible", and he still can't beat them out... What does that say for him?

I was all for drafting Bobby, so this isn't about old draft grudges. I also hope that he becomes all pro for us. But he didn't play last year for one reason: Because he wasn't any good.

You don't just throw players into the game at random and hope they play well. Players EARN the right to play by what they show in training camp and preseason. And Bobby didn't do that.

My issue is with the people with agendas against Carp. He hasn't done anything in Dallas but play well in every game he's played in except the one against Minnesota when he was hurt. Thats justification to call him a "bust"? The logic is just dumb. All i know is he played alot better than anybody else on defense against Seattle in the PLAYOFFS. Ayodele and Burnett were invisible against the Giants, and i mean invisible. If you dont like Carp because you wanted some other person to be drafted thats fine. But dont say you dont like him because hes not good, because when he has played in the little he has i notice him alot more than i do Ayodele or Burnett. Go back and watch the preseason games before the Minnesota game. Carpenter will be a good player for somebody. It's obvious to me atleast.
I don't know what to tell you. It is going to happen whether it insults and offends you or not. The only way it doesn't if he achieves superstar status and even then every faux pas will be maginfied.

Don't believe me? Check out TO threads regarding his drops, Roy Williams threads, Tony Romo taking Jessica to Mexico threads. Once someone has been put on a pedastal, there is an undying desire to bring them down off of it.

There was only one person playing in front of Bobby last year and that was Bradie, who had an exceptional year as a 2 down linebacker.

That 4.6 speed does not show on the field, period.

I bet they would not jump on it, but we will never know I guess. Carpenter has seen the field the eqiuivalency of a 3rd or 4th round pick.

for all the hate the guy is getting, he did look pretty good at the end of his rookie yr, and he played a very good game against Seattle in the playoffs

I think Ayodele was a mistake last yr, they should have benched him. Carpenter couldnt have done any worse at ILB than he did, and at least Carpenter has athletic ability and some upside

I bet we see him on the field more this yr

Huh? What happened to Nguyen and Pasquiloni (sp?)?

Pasqualoni went along to Miami to continue being a yes man for Parcells (just like those others)

he was replaced by former Arksnas DC Reggie Herring, I think Herring was gonna be DC for Sherman at Texas A&M but backed out fo that job when he got the Cowboys opportunity

Make it or break it year for Carp. I hope he makes it.

Interesting.

I got laughed at when I stated this earlier last season.

I would not be suprised to see Carpenter have a good year.

I know it is politically incorrect to do so, but I so wish that everytime one of you radio/media/blogger types get to interview one of the players you would just ask them bluntly, "What is it about you guys that you just wither on the vine in December and January when it gets down to crunch time?" I would really like to know the players' perspective about why they disappear.
