No. He was a step late in coverage and tackling. Constantly got shoved around and was a total liability versus the run. Guess you dont remember how many 3rd and longs got picked up by the opposition in MLB coverage areas. What will you say when Parcels dumps him?

I guess you don't remember the praise he received for his work against some of the best tight ends in the league.

He might be a "total liability" against the run, and that will get him dumped as a linebacker, but his coverage was very good last year. Everyone gives up some plays, but Carpenter had more than his fair share of good coverage, holding opponents to 35 percent on third downs overall attests to that. But even without that, it was clear to see if you don't have hate blinders on.

I have no love for Carpenter and do not care that he is gone, but I'm not going to be unfair in my assessment just because he is no longer with Dallas.

I know that Barbie's dad played for Bill, but geez. Seriously, was there an affair between Barbie's mom and Big Bill? Is Barbie Bill's love child? He sure didn't draft him #1 or sign him to the Dolphins based on talent.

For the last time. Carp was a consensus #1. He went about the spot that most teams had him slotted. He just sucked.

Bill didn't really like him much as a player - he had the kid inactive for several games and didn't play him much at all.

Then why draft him?

That's exactly the beef I think a lot of people had with Parcells.

because we needed a strongside linebacker who could stand up the tight end and play the run. In Bill's defense it was crucial that they have a guy to stand the tight end up on that strong side and push the ballcarrier back inside.

Every analyst and every scouting guide had him as a 1.

it didnt work out. oh well, nothing we can do about it now.

Umm, because Bill didn't know he was going to turn out crappy. You think he can tell the future.

Bill didn't like what he saw in TC and say Bobby's ***. Would you prefer that he just played him?

and many pundits were saying he was more pro-ready than Hawk. Several even said he'd be a better pro.

Everyone on this board though is so very smart. They knew this would happen

Then why is Bill picking him up now? Maybe he could not tell the future, but it should be easy to evaluate the past and present.

I was smart when it came to Carpenter. I was questioning why he was getting a 1st round grade way before his name came up as a possible Cowboys draft pick. I was just not impressed with him when I watched tOSU games.

As the draft approached and he became linked to Dallas, I was hoping that the rumors were not true. I rooted for him because Dallas drafted him, but I did not think he would amount to much.

I got it right. I don't get a cookie for it and it sucks because he was a Cowboy. I would have loved being wrong.

He's evaluating him as what he is. A good ST player who you can get for cheap. He knows the ST packages and defense your team plays. He'll make like 500k and the guy he displaced made 2 mill.

You never liked Bobby from the start? I guess you should pursue a career in scouting then because you saw something that most scouts didn't.

I have always said it is easier to pick the busts than it is to pick the pro-bowlers.
