Kosier was considered a bust pretty much when we got him from Detroit.

Huh???

Not hardly. He was viewed as a serviceable lineman who was only a 7th round pick. If anything he was an overachiever.

So Manny Lawson is a scrub? Davin Joseph is a scrub?

If there wasn't anyone there, then we should have traded down.

Well thats one way to interpret what I wrote. I think what I said there is a good chance we would have selected a bust since there were so many.

I am not defending the pick. That pick never did excite me. I am just pointing out that there were quite a few bust in that draft IMO.

once again you need to research a little before you post. Columbo had ONE injury- it was a bad one. The bears gave up on him thinking he would not make it back. BP was the only one who thought he might and took a chance on him.

I need to do some research? JohnsKey19 was also baffled by your claim that Kosier was a bust -- a statement that you have yet to back up.

He damaged his knee really bad in 2002. He missed 6 games. In 2003, he didn't even play because he was put on the PUP list and later on injured reserve. In 2004, he began the year on the PUP list and then played 8 games. In 2005, he played on Opening Day and then was cut. Then, he came to us.

He was injury prone.

Oh, okay. It's kind of like what people say about the two #1's we traded for Galloway: what do we care? Jerry would have wasted them anyway.

I know that Barbie's dad played for Bill, but geez. Seriously, was there an affair between Barbie's mom and Big Bill? Is Barbie Bill's love child? He sure didn't draft him #1 or sign him to the Dolphins based on talent.

AS I explained for the deaf and dumb, the sons of former Pro Football players have a lower bust rate than other players. So its considered a good factor to use in choosing a player.

I can't be certain, but don't think that was much of a criteria for choosing players under either Landry or Jimmy.

Or it's possible he saw his play as the nickel linebacker last season in Dallas, looked at Dallas' percentage on third downs converted (35) and thought he'd be a pretty good pickup for that role.

Considering we have yet to find a suitable third-down replacement at nickel linebacker, I can't blame him. There was no way Carpenter was returning here, but for the right price, there is a niche position for him in a coverage role. At the moment, he's probably better at it than any of the backups we've got. I do expect that to change, though.

Could be, but I'll wait for the results of the paternity test before I abandon my love child hypothesis.

You can laugh if you want, but the truth is he was a solid coverage linebacker last year. Now, he can't blitz very well and he's on skates against the run and takes bad angles, but if you need someone to shadow a tight end or running back, he showed he could do that.

I want more from my nickel linebacker than that, but right now, we don't know if we have a backup who can handle the coverage part of that role. That's why we might have to keep Brooking on the field on third downs against the Commanders and at least for a few weeks of the season.

I expect Lee to eventually take the role, IF they'll let him focus on it in practice.

It was the same injury. Now maybe you have a different definition of injury prone but to me it means multiple injuries.

Kosier was considered nothing when we got him and it turned out he was pretty good.

No. He was a step late in coverage and tackling. Constantly got shoved around and was a total liability versus the run. Guess you dont remember how many 3rd and longs got picked up by the opposition in MLB coverage areas. What will you say when Parcels dumps him?
