Bobby Petrino Rumors

Stoops overrated?! You must be kidding, look at the job he did this past season for starters. What do you base this on? Hate for OU maybe? LOL. Neuheisel is QB coach for the Ravens who sit at 12-3, not too shabby. Your biases are showing my friend.

Give me Russ Grimm or a defensive guy off the Steelers staff.

Word is, if you can believe in any validity of words and rumors these days, that Russ Grimm may be a front runner for the Steelers HC job if Cowher moves on.

I think I heard it was between Grimm and Whizzerdingerheimerhut.

No Russ Grimm to Dallas, please. I say go with one of the top college coaches: Stoops, Petrino. Don't tell me about how college coaches fail at the next level. Plenty of NFL assistants have as well.

Petrino seems to be a great college HC, but I don't like his limited NFL experience.

Seems the smart hire would be to go get a Bill Belichick lackey. Any of them.
Pepper Johnson?

If we get Charlie Weiss I'm volunteering to be the head of the congo line dance.

If we get a college coach with no NFL experience...then I may have to take up drinking

Everything is changing. A top college coach without NFL experience doesn't bother me. Jimmy Johnson put assistants with NFL experience on his initial staff, a smart move. The same would be done by Stoops or Petrino. These guys aren't idiots. We need to do something bold to break out of the decade plus long doldrums.

I heard Petrino's name bandied about on Cold Pizza yesterday morning when they were talking to Charean Williams & Dave Shore.

I am a HUGE OU fan/alum and huge Stoops fan but I really don't think he'd be that successful in the NFL. I think he's a great coach and better person, but I don't really see him transitioning well. Remember, he's from the Spurrier coaching tree.

I wish we could get Fisher, I'd be interested in Saban too, but definitely an NFL guy, we have to much talent already to waste it with 2-3 years of rebuilding.

There were past rumors that Jerry liked Neuheisel. At least he plays to win, unlike Parcells. The guy now has pro experience, I'd say he'd be a good pick. And I do know a thing or two about the game of football. LOL. Didn't Neuheisel field winning teams? A better choice than many, believe me. I'd be fine with him.

I believe it was Aikman who suggested Neuheisel long ago.

I strongly doubt that is a serious option any longer.

You realize Jimmy is the ONLY coach with NO NFL coaching experience to have been successful, and he failed in Miami, those odds are horrible.

Myself, I'd rather take my chances on one with experience unless you can ensure us another Hershel-Walker type trade.

describe for us what "failed in Miami" means please...

because he actually won playoff games in Miami...if thats failing, what would you call Parcells has done here?

I'd prefer to not go after a college coach unless it was Weiss. Petrino runs a legit pro style offense and could probably adjust pretty well, but offense isn't the problem....the defense is. We are what....4th in points scored per game? And for the most part the offense has gotten better each season under Parcells. Sure, it's not right where we want it to be, but it's clearly heading for improvement. OTOH, I think the defense is taking a major step backwards and if anything, it shows that Zimmer can't coordinator a championship defense.

No Way we go after a college guy with no NFL experience.!!!!!!!!!!!!

If we had a team that was in the rebuilding stages , maybe, but with the team we have now , I can't see turning it over to a Journeyman coach.

Weiss has been mentioned and I guess I could accept him.:D

But Stoops and Petrino, ,Nope, not at this time.

From What I've seen out there, BP is alright with me.

Surrounded by different Coordinators I think would help immensely.

JMO you understand

Don't you love revisionists?

Not winning the SB must equal failing. I was glad Jimmy didn't take the Dolphins to the SB, because that would've made me feel worse seeing him do it with another team. He wasn't as successful as he'd like to have been, but I don't think he failed. I don't recall any losing seasons he had. Trying to reach for the next Emmitt was his biggest problem - that, and being forced to retain an over the hill Marino.

He didn't turn the Dolphins into the early 90's Cowboys, but he still do alright.

Who else has heard these recent rumors of Bobby Petrino (Louisville) replacing Bill Parcells? I'd prefer Bob Stoops or Rick Nueheisel, but Petrino would be a great choice as well. Thoughts?

Jimmy's drafts were pretty bad in Miami when you compare them to his Cowboys drafts. He also had to deal with a salary cap and free agency - things he didnt have to deal with while he coached the Cowboys.
